వేగవంతమైన అర్ధశతకం కొట్టిన అభయ్ నేగీ

మేఘాలయకు చెందిన అభయ్ నేగి జాతీయ టీ20 టోర్నీ(సయ్యద్ ముస్తాక్ అలీ ట్రోఫీ)లో వేగవంతమైన అర్ధశతకం నమోదు చేశాడు. ఇప్పటివరకు రాబిన్ ఉతప్ప తరఫున ఉన్న రికార్డును ఈ ఆటగాడు బ్రేక్ చేశాడు.

మేఘాలయ ఆల్‌రౌండర్‌ అభయ్ నేగి అరుదైన రికార్డును తన ఖాతాలో వేసుకున్నాడు. దేశవాళీ టీ20 క్రికెట్‌ టోర్నీలో వేగంగా అర్ధశతకం బాదిన ఆటగాడిగా రికార్డు సృష్టించాడు. సయ్యద్ ముస్తాక్ అలీ ట్రోఫీలో మిజోరంపై అతడు 14 బంతుల్లోనే అర్ధశతకాన్ని పూర్తిచేశాడు. ఫలితంగా దేశవాళీలో రాబిన్ ఉతప్ప పేరిట ఉన్న రికార్డును బద్దలు కొట్టాడు. అంతేకాకుండా కేఎల్ రాహుల్ రికార్డునూ సమం చేశాడు.
భారత్‌లో జరిగిన టీ20ల్లో వేగంగా అర్ధశతకం బాదిన ఆటగాడిగా రాహుల్ రికార్డు నెలకొల్పాడు. 2018లో మొహాలీ వేదికగా జరిగిన ఐపీఎల్ మ్యాచ్లో... కింగ్స్‌ ఎలెవన్‌ పంజాబ్‌ తరఫున ప్రాతినిధ్యం వహించి కేఎల్ రాహుల్.. దిల్లీ క్యాపిటల్స్‌పై ఈ ఘనత సాధించాడు.
మిజోరం బౌలర్లపై రెండు ఫోర్లు, ఆరు సిక్సర్లతో చెలరేగిన అభయ్... ఐపీఎల్ 2020 వేలంలో ప్రత్యేక ఆకర్షణగా నిలుస్తాడని అందరూ భావిస్తున్నారు. అభయ్‌తో పాటు రవితేజ (53) కూడా అర్ధశతకంతో రాణించడం వల్ల తొలుత బ్యాటింగ్‌ చేసిన మేఘాలయ నిర్ణీత 20 ఓవర్లలో 4 వికెట్ల నష్టానికి 207 పరుగులు చేసింది.
అనంతరం లక్ష్య ఛేదనకు బరిలోకి దిగిన మిజోరం... రెండు వికెట్లు కోల్పోయి 182 పరుగులే చేసింది. మిజోరం బ్యాట్స్‌మన్‌లు కోహ్లీ (90), పవన్‌ (72*) పోరాడినా.. జట్టుకు విజయాన్ని అందించలేకపోయారు. ఫలింతంగా మేఘాలయ 25 పరుగుల తేడాతో విజయం సాధించింది.

"I think that last night was a PR (public relations) disaster. There's been so much criticism in the newspapers today from all sides, lots of criticism on social media. We really saw a man there last night who didn't think he did anything wrong. He said that the reason why he went to see and stay with Jeffrey Epstein was that he was too honourable. He also talked about he didn't notice the people, the women in the apartments in the houses, because they were just like staff. And it was really very striking that there was no sympathy at all expressed for the victims. There wasn't a single word saying clearly there were terrible things went on in these houses and I feel such sympathy for these women, these young girls who were trafficked - not a word."

"I think last night was detrimental to public perception. And I think that what we also saw was no clear answer to some of the key questions, including when Emily Maitlis (journalist conducting interview) said, so when you were given massages at these houses in Florida, do you think those women were trafficked? And he didn't say he hadn't received massages, he started to say how many times he'd been to Florida or not. And also there was really almost a sort of paper-thin alibi for the night in which Virginia Roberts (Jeffrey Epstein accuser) said they were together. He said he was at Pizza Express with his daughter, and I mean simply, we all know that a teenage girl's birthday party, if that's what it was, finishes very early and so he could have got to Tramp (a nightclub in London) later. So there was no real answer to the question of what did you see, did you engage with these women, and what did you think was going on in these houses?"

"This is not going to go away. I think he felt that this was going to draw a line under it, absolutely no way. This has reignited a lot of the speculation. And indeed I was reading this morning that sources were saying he won't be going to America anytime soon because the FBI really will want to interview, him and now of course they have this as evidence, that certainly he did stay, and he knew, and he was there, and he saw a woman around. So really I think that Prince Andrew, what was he thinking when he agreed to this interview? Because this interview has really exposed the mindset, I think, that allows people like Jeffrey Epstein to get away with it."

"We understand from Newsnight and Prince Andrew that the say so for this interview came right from the top. So all members of the royal family and the household, they were appraised, acquainted with this and really, I expect, that they listened to Andrew when he said, this will draw a line under it, this will end the speculation. This will mean, as he said last night, he said, 'now I can get on with things... with all my usual work.' I mean, that's not going to happen. This really is very, very problematic."

"The royal household today will be in damage control mode, trying to work out how to minimise the damage that has come from this. And, you know, I think it's a very difficult. I think that all they can do is really take Andrew away from public life. No amount of charity work, no amount of opening hospitals or anything like that is going to work, I feel, at addressing the damage from this interview. He has to go quietly, retire away and the royal family have to focus on the good work they do through other members. Simply, last night was really a burning of the bridges, I think for Prince Andrew."
STORYLINE:
A royal historian on Sunday criticised Prince Andrew’s effort to rebut claims that he had sex with a teenager who claims she was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein, branding his televised interview a complete public relations disaster.
In a rare interview with BBC Newsnight that was broadcast late Saturday, Andrew categorically denied having sex with the woman, Virginia Roberts Giuffre.
But Britain’s newspapers and social media commentators criticised him for defending his friendship with Epstein and for failing to show empathy for the convicted sex offender’s victims.
Royal historian, Kate Williams said she believed that the Prince thought the interview may "draw a line" under the allegations, but instead it had "reignited a lot of the speculation."
She said she felt there was "no clear answer" to some of the key questions in the interview.
Williams said that the royal household will be in "damage control mode" following this interview, and added that she believes that "all they can do is really take Andrew away from public life."
