"Yeah, and I just really became attached to it. I became attached to the characters, the story really drew me in and I think there's so many parallels between Toronto and London - obviously we don't have the same accent, but we speak the same a lot, so it reminded me of people I grew up with, or guys that I know, and situations that I've witnessed, so I just really felt super connected right away, and then yeah, then it disappeared on me and I was like, 'Whoa, what, no, wait what happened?' I had to do my research."

"Yeah, I did my research and I found out that, you know, it had been ultimately canceled and I brought it up to my brother and my manager my partner in crime who always is the best facilitator that I know, so if anybody could get it done, he could get it done. And I brought it up to him, I said, 'Yo, we should bring, we should try and bring this back. I mean, I think the entire U.K. would appreciate it.' And like at first, it was kind of like just for me. I was like, 'Yo, I need this back,' but then I realized how much it meant to so many people. And of course, like I said, you know, you mentioned something to him and he's going to go full throttle 100 percent, so next thing I knew we were sitting in a room with Netflix and here we are."

"It was amazing. It was just surreal, you know. And the way it came about, Drake being involved in the whole process, it was surreal. It did take a long time. I was anxious, you know. We didn't know for a while whether it was going to happen or not. But it happened and I'm just proud to be a part of it again."

"We always wanted to do a third season but we were canceled. And we'd left it, we left the end of Season 2 deliberately on a cliffhanger with Dushane running for his life, and we were going to pick that up immediately in the next season, but we were canceled and it's taken six years and it's thanks to Drake primarily that we're back and back with Netflix and able, because we're on Netflix, we're able to tell the story in an expanded - you know, we had two seasons of four episodes each and now we've got 10 episodes, we can tell the story on a much bigger scale."

"It had a huge impact on the show. I mean, a lot of people wouldn't, you know, don't want it to be that way at the end of the day, but the fact of the matter is, he was instrumental in making it happen. You know, he pioneered the show. He went to Netflix and kind of spoke about it like it was his and it was something that he wanted and they believed in him first and foremost, and then you know, over the process realized how huge this show was as well. So we're really fortunate to be in this position and we just know everyone's going to love this, man. It's amazing. It's lit."

DRAKE ATTENDS PREMIERE OF REVIVED TV SHOW 'TOP BOY,' AS EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
Rap superstar Drake has helped bring one of his favorite TV shows back to the screen - and joined stars of the revived "Top Boy" at the premiere of their first new season in six years, in London, Wednesday (4 SEPT. 2019).
The star explains he fell in love with the critically acclaimed British drama - which ran for two seasons in the U.K. before being canceled in 2013 - when he watched episodes on YouTube.
"I just really became attached to it. I became attached to the characters, the story really drew me in and I think there's so many parallels between Toronto and London - obviously we don't have the same accent, but we speak the same a lot, so it reminded me of people I grew up with, or guys that I know, and situations that I've witnessed, so I just really felt super connected right away, and then yeah, then it disappeared on me and I was like, 'Whoa, what, no, wait what happened?' I had to do my research," he said.
"At first it was kind of like just for me, I was like 'Yo, I need this back,' but then then I realized how much it meant to so many people," he adds.
Ashley Walters reprises lead character Dushane, as he returns to London to try and reclaim his hold on the drug market, and face a ruthless new rival.
The recording artist and actor says Drake's involvement had a huge impact on the show.
"He was instrumental in making it happen. You know, he pioneered the show. He went to Netflix and kind of spoke about it like it was his and it was something that he wanted and they believed in him first and foremost, and then you know, over the process realized how huge this show was as well. So we're really fortunate to be in this position. And we just know everyone's going to love this, man."
New to the cast for season three, Simbi Ajikawo - also known as recording artist Little Simz - recalls Drake getting hands-on in rehearsals.

The 10-episode season three of "Top Boy" will launch on Netflix on 13 September.
