17నెలల నిరీక్షణకు తెర- ఫైనల్కు కిదాంబి

భారత షట్లర్ కిదాంబి శ్రీకాంత్ ఇండియా ఓపెన్ ఫైనల్లో అడుగుపెట్టాడు. సెమీఫైనల్లో చైనా ఆటగాడు హుయాంగ్ను ఓడించి తుదిపోరుకు అర్హత సాధించాడు.

భారత బ్యాడ్మింటన్ ఆటగాడు కిదాంబి శ్రీకాంత్ 17 నెలల నిరీక్షణకు తెరపడింది. ఇండియా ఓపెన్ ఫైనల్లోకి ఈ తెలుగుతేజం అడుగుపెట్టాడు. శనివారం జరిగిన సెమీస్లో చైనాకు చెందిన హుయాంగ్ను 14-21, 21-16, 21-19 తేడాతో ఓడించాడు. విక్టర్ అక్సెల్సన్- పారుపల్లి కశ్యప్ల మధ్య జరిగే మరో సెమీస్ విజేతతో తుదిపోరులో తలపడనున్నాడు శ్రీకాంత్.

శ్రీకాంత్ చివరగా 2017 అక్టోబర్లో ఫ్రెంచ్ ఓపెన్ ఫైనల్ ఆడాడు. ఆ ట్రోఫీ నెగ్గిన తర్వాత ఇప్పుడే ఫైనల్లో ప్రవేశించాడు. గతేడాది కామన్వెల్త్ గేమ్స్లో తుదిపోరుకు అర్హత సాధించినప్పటికీ.. ప్రపంచ బ్యాడ్మింటన్ ఫెడరేషన్(బీడబ్ల్యూఎఫ్) నిర్వహించే సూపర్ సిరీస్లలో.. ఫైనల్ చేరడం 17 నెలల తర్వాత ఇదే తొలిసారి.

STORYLINE:
Ambulances were lined up at Malaka camp, east of Gaza City on Saturday as organizers prepared to mark a year of border protests.
The marches are planned to begin in the early afternoon.
Tension is growing after the death of Mohammed Saad, 21, early Saturday.
Gaza's Health Ministry said he was hit by Israeli army fire east of Gaza City near the perimeter fence.
The marches near the fence began a year ago, initially organized by grassroots activists.
Hamas quickly took the lead, but a steady large turnout was also driven by widespread despair in Gaza.
The border marches routinely ended in confrontations, with some of the Palestinian demonstrators burning tires, hurling fire bombs or setting off explosives and Israeli troops firing live rounds and tear gas.
According to a Gaza rights group and a count by The Associated Press, 196 Palestinians were killed in the demonstrations over the past year, including 41 minors, and thousands were wounded by live fire.
An Israeli soldier was also killed on the context of the marches.
Meanwhile a general strike called for by Hamas has paralyzed Gaza City to give workers and students time to participate in the protests.
