"Yeah. It's really fun to be honest. For us it's really nice to just play to, I don't know, I guess rather than playing like in three or four places just that one show and like a lot more people being there and I don't know. It's just a different vibe at a festival people get a bit more nuts and it's really fun."
(Reporter: "And they can be at random times of the day can't they?")
"Yeah, that's a bit weird playing at like 11:00 a.m. comes in some stages and stuff like that. But it's been quite... actually we're getting on a bit in the days now which is quite nice. It was like a little bit dark for one of them which is huge, which felt good."
(Reporter: "Yes, apparently sunset is the peak time.")
"Yes that's the dream. That's the dream, yeah."

(Reporter: "Tell me about the Scottish leg of your tour as well because I was looking at that earlier. Why is it important to play dates there for you?")
"So, about four or five years ago when we started out we went on a tour of the Highlands and islands of Scotland and it's just really fun and I think it's really important when you're touring to not just sort of go down the sort of the road that everyone goes down, sort of playing Manchester, Glasgow, and I don't know. Those places are amazing but it's nice to just kind of recognize that the U.K. and Ireland just actually there's so much more to them than just one city or two cities and it's nice to just go to all those little nooks and play. And last time we did it, like the audiences were so nice and really appreciated us making the effort to go there and we've seen people come to our shows in Glasgow and Edinburgh since then and it's just really nice."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Andrew Davie, recording artist:
(Reporter: "You have a lot of travel complexities this year haven't you?")
"It is crazy, at one point we needed to look… We tried, we like had a show in I can't remember where it was, it might have been Switzerland, and then we were playing at Glastonbury the next day and we like seriously had to look into it like helicopter costs and we're like, 'Oh that's really expensive - can't do that.' So we just ended up being in a bus right up until our stage time at Glastonbury. Yeah it's traveling - logistics are a bit more of a nightmare on tours, than they are on tours, so yeah."
(Reporter: "Your poor tour manager must be pulling their hair out.")
"Yeah, I know. Yeah. He's a brave man, a brave soul."
(Reporter: "And how do you guys cope on the road - is that like an aspect of the job that you enjoy?")
"Yeah we love it. It's kind of like how we started as a band was by playing live. And I think it's just always been first and foremost, like can we actually do this whenever we write songs. So it's yeah, it's really nice and for us to get to travel is really cool. Be nice to spend more time in those places but then I guess that's why trying to find interesting ways of touring is something that we're always open to and excited about. And the first tour we did was like from Austin to Boston in America in VW camper vans. And that was like such a unique experience. And I think we're always trying to find opportunities to make touring feel more like that and a bit less like you're just doing a circuit or something, where it feels a bit like today like you're part of a machine or something. It's nice to feel like - Now let's go to the Highlands and islands of Scotland. Let's go down there. Let's go to wherever. That's when it gets really fun for us."

BEAR'S DEN'S ANDREW DAVIE CHATS ABOUT THE LOGISTICS OF TOURING AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT FOR THE BAND TO PERFORM IN THE SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS
Indie outfit Bear's Den are really testing the limits of touring.
This summer, the London-based band is playing concerts in the lesser traveled outer reaches of northern Scotland - including on an island located more than 700 miles away from the English capital.
Singer Andrew Davie discussed why it was important for the band to perform in such far flung corners.
"About four or five years ago when we started out we went on a tour of the Highlands and islands of Scotland and it's just really fun and I think it's really important when you're touring to not just sort of go down the sort of the road that everyone goes down, sort of playing Manchester, Glasgow, and I don't know. Those places are amazing but it's nice to just kind of recognize that the U.K. and Ireland just actually there's so much more to them," he recalled.
Bear's Den released their third studio record - "So That You Might Hear Me" - earlier this year and are enjoying playing their new material on the festival circuit, especially to more substantial crowds.
"It's really fun to be honest. For us it's really nice to just play to, I don't know, I guess rather than playing like in three or four places just that one show and like a lot more people being there and I don't know. It's just a different vibe at a festival people get a bit more nuts and it's really fun."
"So That You Might Hear Me" is out now with Bear's Den next live appearance at the Blue Balls Festival in Switzerland today (19 JULY 2019).
