టాస్ గెలిచిన దక్షిణాఫ్రికా.. ఆసిస్​ బౌలింగ్​

మాంచెస్టర్ వేదికగా ఆస్ట్రేలియాతో మ్యాచ్​లో దక్షిణాఫ్రికా టాస్ గెలిచి బ్యాటింగ్ ఎంచుకుంది.​ దక్షిణాఫ్రికా స్పిన్నర్ ఇమ్రాన్ తాహిర్​కు ఇదే చివరి వన్డే.

ప్రపంచకప్​లో భాగంగా ఆస్ట్రేలియాతో మ్యాచ్​లో దక్షిణాఫ్రికా టాస్ గెలిచి బ్యాటింగ్ ఎంచుకుంది. మాంచెస్టర్ వేదికగా జరిగే ఈ మ్యాచ్​లో వర్షం కురిసే అవకాశం తక్కువ. పిచ్​కు బ్యాటింగ్​కు అనుకూలించే అవకాశముంది.

ఇప్పటికే సెమీస్ చేరిన ఆసిస్​ ఇందులో నెగ్గి​ పాయింట్ల పట్టికలో అగ్రస్థానాన్ని నిలబెట్టుకోవాలని భావిస్తోంది. మరోవైపు ఈ మెగాటోర్నీని విజయంతో ముగించాలని అనుకుంటోంది సౌతాఫ్రికా. ప్రొటీస్​ బౌలర్ ఇమ్రాన్​ తాహిర్​కు ఇదే చివరి వన్డే.

China's rare earth industry is shifting its development strategy to focus more on high-quality products and downstream sectors so as to maximize the country's advantage in having abundant reserves of rare earth.
As the world's largest exporter of rare earth material, China has one-third of the total global reserves. But the country has not benefited as much as it could from this resource because it has to pay to import the high-value-added products that these rare-earth materials are used in.
Northern Rare Earth Group is the biggest company of its kind in China. It's located in the city of Baotou in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, whose Bayan Obo mine has the world’s largest rare earth reserve.
The group has established a full rare earth industry chain. Using world leading technology of smelting and extraction, the group focused on producing rare earth minerals. But now it has expanded its activities.
"The group used to produce low-end products, with few requirements on quality and environment protection. But later, we started to improve quality, lower the cost and invest more in technology research and innovation," said Cui Lingxiao, head of the Baotou Research Institution of Rare Earth.
Rare earth minerals can be used to manufacture lots of things, from a variety of vehicles and electronic devices to some daily necessities. They are specially used in military and space industries. The permanent magnetic units produced by the Northern Rare Earth Group were used in China's Long March rockets and Shenzhou spaceship.
And the group has also been promoting a rare earth plus strategy, aiming to use rare earth in more fields.
"While rare earth minerals are mainly used in military and other high-end industries, we have been working on extending its application to civilian products, like using it in PVC materials, iron and steel, and magnesium alloy. Their weight will be greatly reduced yet with the same strength," said Cui.
Cui said China's rare earth industry now aims at the downstream sector of the industry chain.
"We are now active in up and midstream sectors of the global industry chain. But we are trying to catch up with some developed countries who use high technologies and are active in the downstream sector," said Cui.
The Northern Rare Earth Group said it has been increasing its market share of downstream products in recent years. As the industry gets stronger, it is moving toward an intensive development model that focuses on quality and efficiency.
