దక్షిణాఫ్రికాతో జరుగుతోన్న టెస్టు సిరీస్లో రోహిత్ శర్మ రికార్డుల వేట కొనసాగుతోంది. మొదటి మ్యాచ్లో రెండు సెంచరీలతో అదరగొట్టి పలు ఘనతలు సాధించిన హిట్మ్యాన్.. మూడో టెస్టులోనూ శతక దాహాన్ని తీర్చుకున్నాడు. తద్వారా పలు రికార్డులు సాధించాడు.

మూడో టెస్టులో మూడో సిక్సర్‌ కొట్టిన తర్వాత ఈ సిరీస్‌లో 16వ సిక్సర్‌ను రోహిత్‌ ఖాతాలో వేసుకున్నాడు. ఫలితంగా ఒక టెస్టు సిరీస్‌లో అత్యధిక సిక్సర్లు కొట్టిన ఆటగాడిగా నిలిచాడు. ఈ క్రమంలోనే వెస్టిండీస్‌ ఆటగాడు హెట్‌మెయిర్‌ రికార్డును రోహిత్‌ తిరగరాశాడు. బంగ్లాదేశ్‌తో జరిగిన సిరీస్‌లో హెట్‌మెయిర్‌ 15 సిక్సర్లు కొట్టాడు. తాజాగా దాన్ని రోహిత్‌ బద్దలు కొట్టాడు.

భారత్‌ తరఫున అత్యధిక సిక్సర్లు కొట్టిన రికార్డు కూడా తుడిచిపెట్టుకుపోయింది. న్యూజిలాండ్‌తో జరిగిన టెస్టు సిరీస్‌లో హర్భజన్‌ సింగ్‌ 14 సిక్సర్లు కొట్టాడు. ఇదే ఒక్క టెస్టు సిరీస్‌లో టీమిండియా తరఫున ఇప్పటివరకూ అత్యధిక వ్యక్తిగత సిక్సర్ల రికార్డు. దాన్నీ తిరగరాశాడు రోహిత్‌.

ఒక సిరీస్‌లో భారత్‌ తరఫున అత్యధిక సెంచరీలు సాధించిన రెండో భారత ఓపెనర్గా నిలిచాడు రోహిత్. సునీల్‌ గావస్కర్‌ ఒక సిరీస్‌లో మూడు అంతకంటే సెంచరీలను మూడు సందర్భాల్లో సాధించాడు. తర్వాత ఇంతకాలానికి ఒక సిరీస్‌లో కనీసం మూడు సెంచరీలు సాధించిన భారత ఓపెనర్ల జాబితాలో రోహిత్‌ శర్మ చేరిపోయాడు. ఫలితంగా గావస్కర్‌ తర్వాత ఆ మార్కును చేరిన ఆటగాడిగా గుర్తింపు దక్కించుకున్నాడు.

ఈ మ్యాచ్‌లో రోహిత్‌ సెంచరీ పూర్తి చేసుకున్నాడు. 130 బంతుల్లో 13 ఫోర్లు, 4 సిక‍్సర్లతో శతకం సాధించాడు. సిక్సర్‌తో సెంచరీ పూర్తి చేసుకోవడం విశేషం. ఇది రోహిత్‌కు టెస్టుల్లో 6వ సెంచరీ కాగా, ఈ సిరీస్‌లో మూడో శతకం. టెస్టుల్లో రెండు వేల పరుగుల్ని పూర్తి చేసుకున్నాడీ ఆటగాడు.

"This house called for a meaningful vote, yet today some who champion that now suggest it should delay longer still. Now, I respect the intention of my friend, the right honourable member for West Dorset, who indeed is someone who has supported the vote three times and has indicated his support today. But his amendment would render today's vote meaningless. It would cause further delay when our constituents and our businesses want an end to uncertainty and are calling for us to get this done. Mr. Speaker, the public will be appalled by pointless further delay. We need to get it done by the 31st of October so the country can move forward, and I ask my right honourable friend, in that spirit, to withdraw his amendment."

STORYLINE:
The UK Brexit Secretary said a further delay to Britain's withdrawal from the European Union would "appal" the British public.
Stephen Barclay offered a stern reply to his fellow Conservative Member of Parliament Oliver Letwin's amendment to the latest Brexit deal.
The amendment makes support for the deal conditional on the legislation to implement it being passed by Parliament - something that could take several days, or several weeks.
Letwin argued it would prevent the UK from leaving at the end of the month "by mistake if something goes wrong during the passage of the implementing legislation".
Barclay called the amendment a "pointless further delay" and that Brexit has to happen on October 31.
