ఐపీఎల్‌ ఆరంభం రెండ్రోజులు ఆలస్యమా..?

అతిపెద్ద క్రీడా సంబరమైన ఐపీఎల్ ఈ ఏడాది కాస్త ఆలస్యంగా మొదలుకానుంది. టోర్నీ మార్చి 29న ఆరంభమై.. మే 24న ముగుస్తుందని గతంలో బీసీసీఐ అధ్యక్షుడు గంగూలీ చెప్పాడు. అయితే ఆరంభ తేదీలో కాస్త మార్పు చేసే అవకాశమున్నట్లు తెలుస్తోంది.

ఐపీఎల్‌ ఆరంభం ఆలస్యమా..?

ఐపీఎల్‌ 13వ సీజన్‌ నిర్వహణ తేదీలపై సందిగ్ధత కొనసాగుతోంది. వచ్చే నెల 29న సీజన్‌ ఆరంభమై మే 24న ముగుస్తుందని బీసీసీఐ అధ్యక్షుడు సౌరభ్‌ గంగూలీ చూచాయిగా చెప్పాడు. ఈ తేదీలపై ఇప్పటివరకూ ఎలాంటి అధికారిక ప్రకటన విడుదల కాలేదు. అయితే ఎక్కువ మంది విదేశీ ఆటగాళ్లు ఏప్రిల్‌ ఒకటి తర్వాతే భారత్‌కు రానున్నారు. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో ఆరంభ తేదీ మారే అవకాశం ఉన్నట్లు సమాచారం.

బీసీసీఐ నుంచి ఐసీసీ ప్రతినిధిగా ఎంపికైన జై షా.. ఐసీసీ సమావేశంలో పాల్గొన్న తర్వాతే ఈ తేదీల విషయంపై ఓ నిర్ణయం తీసుకునే వీలుందని బీసీసీఐ వర్గాలు తెలిపాయి.

ఆల్‌స్టార్స్‌ మ్యాచ్‌ అనుమానమే..

ఐపీఎల్‌ ప్రారంభానికి మూడు రోజుల ముందు నిర్వహించాలనుకున్న ఆల్‌స్టార్స్‌ మ్యాచ్‌ నిర్వహణ అనుమానంగా మారింది. సీజన్‌కు ముందు ఎనిమిది ఫ్రాంఛైజీల ఆటగాళ్లను.. రెండు జట్లుగా విడదీసి ఈ మ్యాచ్‌ నిర్వహిస్తామని గంగూలీ ఇదివరకే ప్రకటించాడు. అయితే ఆటగాళ్లను ఆ మ్యాచ్‌కు అనుమతించే విషయంపై ఫ్రాంఛైజీలు ఆసక్తి చూపట్లేనట్లు తెలుస్తోంది.

" వ్యాపార కోణంలో ఆలోచిస్తే మా జట్టు ఆటగాళ్లు మా జెర్సీ వేసుకోకపోవడం మాకు సమ్మతం కాదు. ఐపీఎల్‌ సీజన్‌ ఆరంభానికి కొన్ని రోజుల ముందు ఆల్‌స్టార్‌ మ్యాచ్‌ కోసం ఆటగాళ్లను వదిలేయమనడంలో అర్థం లేదు. క్రీడాకారులకు గాయాలయ్యే ప్రమాదముంది. జట్టుతో బంధం పెంచుకునే సెషన్స్‌, కలిసి ప్రయాణించే సమయాన్ని వాళ్లు కోల్పోతారు".

సీజన్‌ ముగిశాక ఈ మ్యాచ్‌ నిర్వహించే అవకాశాలనూ కొట్టిపారేయలేమని క్రీడా వర్గాలు భావిస్తున్నాయి.

ఐపీఎల్‌కు ఆర్చర్‌ దూరం

ఇంగ్లాండ్‌ స్టార్‌ పేసర్‌ జోఫ్రా ఆర్చర్‌ ఈ ఏడాది ఐపీఎల్‌కు దూరమయ్యాడు. కుడి మోచేతికి గాయం కావడం వల్ల అతను ఈ టోర్నీ నుంచి తప్పుకున్నాడు. ఐపీఎల్‌లో రాజస్థాన్‌ రాయల్స్‌కు ఆడుతున్న ఈ పేసర్‌.. శ్రీలంకతో పర్యటనకు కూడా దూరం అవుతున్నట్లు ఇంగ్లాండ్‌ అండ్‌ వేల్స్‌ క్రికెట్‌ బోర్డు వెల్లడించింది.

"We've already seen a good impact with the rainfall, we're down to 42 fires at the moment, 17 of those are still not contained, and we're optimistic over the coming days, certainly the next week potentially, as we head through this weekend and right through next week. We are expecting rainfall to continue to fall across a lot of these fire grounds and that'll result in a number of those being declared as contained."

STORYLINE:
Heavy rain lashed parts of eastern Australia on Friday, causing some flooding in Sydney and other parts of the state of New South Wales.
Roads were closed, and cars flooded.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning along the New South Wales coast.
The state's northern coastal town of Byron Bay was drenched with 280 millimeters (11 inches) of rain in the last 24 hours, the Bureau of Meteorology said.
The rain comes as a slight relief for some areas dealing with wildfires that devastated large swathes of land across the state over recent months.
The Rural Fire Service commissioner for New South Wales, Shane Fitzsimmons, said he's optimistic the rain will fall over the fire zone over the coming days, which should help contain some blazes.
He said there are still 42 fires burning in the state, and 17 of them remain out of control.
Meanwhile, heavy rain also drenched parts of Queensland.
A burst sewer caused a sinkhole in the middle of a highway bringing heavy traffic and road closures, local media reported.
