(speaking about failing to meet the October 31 Brexit deadline)
(Journalist: "I'm just talking about the fundamental promise you made to leave on the 31st of October and you broke that promise.")
"And I said we would do, I said we would get a great new deal, that people said was impossible, remember they said we wouldn't reopen the Withdrawal Agreement, we wouldn't be able to get out of the thing that's keeping the UK back and we did, plus, we got Parliament to say it was a good deal, but then they refused to implement it and actually, Sophie, there was bags of time between that vote where they first said it was good deal and when they could've got us out on the 31st of October.
(Journalist: "You need to take responsibility as well you can't just blame it on MPs")
And I do, I do, and I'm deeply, deeply disappointed, and I had to consider.
(Journalist: "Are you sorry?")
Yes, absolutely. I mean...
(Journalist: "Will you apologise to all those Conservative voters who voted for you, because they thought that you would take them out of the EU on the 31st of October?")
It's a matter of, I don't have to, it's a matter of deep regret, but what we have to do now is get on and do it."

(Journalist: "(US President) Donald Trump told LBC this week that under your Brexit deal we can't make a trade deal with the UK. Is the President right?")
"I don't wish to cast any aspersions on the President of the United States, but in that respect, he is patently in error. Anybody who looks at our deal can see it is a great deal."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Boris Johnson, British Prime Minister:
(speaking about negotiating trade deals with nations before the end of the Brexit transition period on December 2020)
(Journalist: "If you're Prime Minister, can you rule out extending the transition period?")
"Let me, I think our viewers will know that unlike the EU-Canada deal or the EU-Korea deal or any other trade deal the EU has done, we all or we start our negotiations in a state.
(Journalist: "It's going to be tight though?")
We start our negotiations in a state of perfect alignment. We already have zero tariffs and zero quotas. We already have full regulatory and legislative alignment. So the negotiations, in principle, should be extremely simple.
(Journalist: "So no extension of the transition?")
I see no reason, whatever, why we should extend the transition period."

(speaking about allowing a second referendum for Scottish independence)
(Journalist: "We're speaking to (Scottish First Minister) Nicola Sturgeon this week. She has said that by the end of the year she will put forward a formal request in to ask permission from the UK government to hold another referendum on Scottish independence. Can you rule out granting that as Prime Minister?")
"All I can say to Nicola Sturgeon and to others who, and I've been asked this question every week in PMQs by our friends in the Scots-Nats, and what I will say is I think having another referendum, I don't think people in this country think referendums are very wonderful for harmony. We had one in 2014, let me say this, we had one in 2014, the British people, the people of Scotland were told in 2014 that that was a once in a generation event, just as people that were told, by the way, that it was a once in a generation event to have a referendum...
(Journalist: "So can you rule out, would you ever grant it (second Scottish independence referendum) as Prime Minister?")
No, I don't. I don't want to have one. But but I don't see any reason to go back on that."

STORYLINE:
Britain's election campaign heated up on Sunday even before it officially started, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson saying he would apologise to Conservatives for failing to take the UK out of the European Union by October 31.
Johnson's promise to have Britain leave the bloc by October 31 had been his central platform in the party leadership competition that brought him to power in July.
In an interview which aired on Sky News on Sunday, Johnson said that it was a matter of "deep regret" that he failed to do so.
Asked if he was sorry about missing the deadline, Johnson said: "Yes, absolutely."
Johnson's plan to leave by October 31 with or without a divorce deal was blocked by Parliament, which required him to seek a Brexit extension.
The EU has granted a three-month Brexit extension until January 31.
Following the extension, Johnson pushed hard for an early national election on December 12, in which he hopes to get a more Brexit-friendly Parliament.
Speaking about trade following Brexit, Johnson said US President Donald Trump's claim that the Withdrawal Agreement, negotiated with the EU, may rule out a trade deal with the US, was "patently in error."
When he was asked about whether his government would have enough time to negotiate other trade deals before the end of the Brexit transition period in December 2020, Johnson said he saw "no reason whatever" in extending the deadline.
In the same televised chat, Johnson also said he didn't want to have a second Scottish independence referendum.
