పోలెండ్లోని పోజ్నాన్ నగరంలో జరుగుతున్న మోటర్ షో కార్యక్రమం వాహన ప్రియులను విశేషంగా ఆకట్టుకుంటోంది. ముఖ్యంగా డ్రైవర్ రహిత విద్యుత్ వాహనాలు ప్రదర్శనలో ప్రత్యేక ఆకర్షణగా నిలిచాయి.

మీకు సరికొత్త స్పోర్ట్స్కార్లు, అధునాతన వాహనాలంటే అమితమైన ప్రేముందా... అలాంటి కార్లను వెంటనే చూసేయాలనుందా... అయితే పోలెండ్లోని పోజ్నాన్ నగరానికి వెళ్లాల్సిందే... పోజ్నాన్ నగరంలో జరుగుతున్న మోటర్ షో కార్యక్రమం వాహన ప్రియులను విశేషంగా ఆకట్టుకుంటోంది.

ఆడీ, ఫోక్స్ వాగన్ తదితర దిగ్గజ కార్ల తయారీ సంస్థలు రూపొందించిన అధునాతన ఎలక్ట్రిక్ కార్లు ఈ ప్రదర్శనలో ప్రత్యేక ఆకర్షణగా నిలుస్తున్నాయి. డ్రైవర్ ప్రమేయం లేకుండా నడిచే ఎలక్ట్రిక్ వాహనాలు చూపరులను కట్టిపడేస్తున్నాయి.

ఆడీ సరికొత్త సాంకేతికతతో రూపొందించిన స్పోర్ట్స్కారు, జర్మనీకి చెందిన ఫోక్స్ వాగన్ సంస్థ 'బజ్ అటానామస్ సాంకేతిక పరిజ్ఞానం' సాయంతో తయారుచేసిన మైక్రోబస్ (వెనగాన్)ను ప్రదర్శనలో ఉంచింది. పూర్తిగా ఎలక్ట్రిక్ ఇంజిన్తో కూడిన ఈ వెనగాన్ డ్రైవర్ ప్రమేయం లేకుండానే నడుస్తుంది. వీటితో పాటు ఈ ఏడాది మోటార్ షో కార్యక్రమంలో 60 నూతన కార్లను మొదటిసారిగా ప్రదర్శనలో ఉంచారు.

" ఇక్కడి ప్రధానాంశం ఏంటంటే... ఈ ఎలక్ట్రిక్ కారు చాలా బాగుంది. నడిపేందుకు ఎంతో ఆహ్లాదకరంగా ఉంది. చాలా వేగంగా వెళ్లగలదు. 300 హార్స్ పవర్స్ కలిగిన రెండు ఇంజిన్లు ఈ కారులో ఉంటాయి. అందుకే కారు వేగం ఎక్కడా తగ్గదు. కారు మొదలైనప్పటి నుంచి వీలైనంత వేగంతో ప్రయాణించొచ్చు. అందుకే కారు నడుపుతుంటే ఆ ఆనందమే వేరుగా ఉంటుంది. పొగ విడుదల చేసే కార్లతే పోలిస్తే ఇవి శబ్దం లేకుండా ప్రయాణిస్తాయి. నేను ఇంత వరకు ఇలాంటి ప్రత్యేకతలున్న కారును చూడలేదు."

ఈనెల 29న ప్రారంభమైన ఈ కార్యక్రమం నేటితో ముగియనుంది. దాదాపు లక్షా 50 వేల మంది వీక్షకులు హాజరయ్యే అవకాశముందని నిర్వాహకులు అంచనా వేస్తున్నారు.

New research suggests koalas rescued from rural areas in Australia are more stressed than those from urban centres.
It's believed to be because the native animals from more populated areas are more accustomed to people.
STORYLINE:
This koala joey is having one last check-up.
It'll soon be released back into the wild.
It's one of hundreds treated at Port Macquarie Koala Hospital in northern New South Wales.
"Apart from disease, which is the main reason for admission, we see koalas hit by cars and unfortunately attacked by dogs," says the hospital's clinical director Cheyne Flanagan.
When it comes to deciding whether it's worth saving an injured koala, the animal's stress level can be the deciding factor.
"It can have a major impact on their treatment," says Flanagan.
A new study, from Western Sydney University, measured and compared stress levels in koalas rescued from urban areas with those found in rural settings.
"We were trying to understand how they respond to environmental change," explains animal scientist Dr. Edward Narayan.
Dr. Narayan and his team used scat (faeces) samples sent in from wildlife groups to detect stress hormones.
"We found that the koalas, actually, that live in rural areas, in rural to urban fringe, were the most stressed," he says.
"What was really interesting to us was that koalas in urban areas were actually showing lower signs of stress."
Researchers say the findings don't mean koalas in urban environments aren't stressed, it simply means they're less stressed and appear to have become more accustomed to coming into contact with humans.
They claim it shows the animals can adapt to having humans around, but still must have protected habitats.
"If we don't deal with stress, with regards to our native wildlife, we will see more and more beautiful animals will end up becoming extinct," says Dr. Narayan.
The research team conclude saying that if the animals have their basic needs met in terms of protection from pollution, food, water and shelter, then they can co-exist with humans, so more green spaces in Australia's cities are essential to protect the country's unique wildlife.
