అమెరికా ఆర్మీ ట్విట్టర్లో సంధించిన ఒక ప్రశ్నకు సుమారు 10 వేల మంది సమాధానమిచ్చారు. దేశ రక్షణ కోసం యుద్ధాలు చేసిన సమయంలో ఏ విధంగా ప్రభావితమయ్యామనే అంశాలను పంచుకున్నారు మాజీ జవాన్లు, వారి కుటుంబ సభ్యులు.

సాయుధ దళాల్లో సేవలందిస్తూ వీరమరణం పొందిన వారిని స్మరించుకునే 'వార్షిక సెలవు' దినానికి కొన్ని రోజుల ముందు ట్విట్టర్లో అమెరికా సైన్యం... మాజీ జవాన్లు, వారి కుటుంబ సభ్యులకు ఓ ప్రశ్న వేసింది. ఆర్మీలో పనిచేసిన రోజుల్లో, ఆ తర్వాత ఏ విధంగా ప్రభావితమయ్యారు? ఎంత బాధను అనుభవించారు? అని అడిగింది.

సైన్యం అడిగిన ప్రశ్నకు సుమారు 10 వేలకు పైగా సమాధానాలు వచ్చాయి. అందులో తమ కొందరు వివరాలను వెల్లడించలేదు. సమాధానాల సంఖ్య మాత్రం ఇప్పటి వరకు అగ్రరాజ్యం చేసిన యుద్ధాల సంఖ్యను సూచిస్తోంది.

" ఇరాక్లో యుద్ధం చేసి మా తండ్రి ఇంటికి తిరిగొచ్చారు. అప్పటి నుంచి అసంబద్ధంగా, నిరంతరం కోపంగా, అనుమానస్పదంగా వ్యవహరిస్తున్నారు. ఆయనకు చాలా రకాల వైద్యాలు చేయించాం. కానీ ఇప్పటికీ ఆయన మానసిక, భౌతిక ఆరోగ్యం క్షీణిస్తోంది. ఇరాక్లో జరిగిన పరిణామాలతోనే ఆయన కచ్చితంగా ప్రభావితమై ఉంటారు."

2001లో అఫ్గానిస్థాన్, 2003లో ఇరాక్పై యుద్ధాన్ని ప్రారంభించింది అమెరికా. ఈ ఘర్షణల్లో వేల మంది అగ్రరాజ్య సైనికులు మరణించారు. చాలా మంది గాయపడ్డారు. ఇప్పటికీ అమెరికా బలగాలు ఇరు దేశాల్లో మోహరించి ఉన్నాయి.

అఫ్గానిస్థాన్, ఇరాక్లో యుద్ధాల కోసం అమెరికా బలగాలను వినియోగించటాన్ని పేర్కొంటూ.. " ఓఈఎఫ్ (ఆపరేషన్ ఎండ్యూరింగ్ ఫ్రీడం), ఓఐఎఫ్ (ఆపరేషన్ ఇరాకీ ఫ్రీడం)ల కారణంగా పీటీఎస్డీ (పోస్ట్ ట్రామాటిక్ స్ట్రెస్ డిజార్డర్), ధీర్ఘకాల నొప్పిని అనుభవిస్తున్నాం" అని ట్విట్టర్లో ఓ మాజీ జవాను స్పందించారు.

" ఓఈఎఫ్లో మా కుమారుడు పనిచేశాడు. అనంతరం అక్కడి నుంచి తిరిగివచ్చాడు. తిరిగి ఉద్యోగంలో చేరిన తర్వాత తుపాకీతో కాల్చుకుని ఆత్మహత్య చేసుకున్నాడు."

ఆర్మీ అడిగిన ప్రశ్నకు వచ్చిన సమాధానాలు.. ఒక్కొక్కరివి ఒక్కో విధమైన విషాధ గాథలుగా ఉన్నాయి. వారు అనుభవించిన పరిస్థితులు, కుటుంబ సభ్యుల బాధ వర్ణణాతీతంగా ఉంది.

"I think it will be very hard for Weber to become Commission President. I think the chances are that you will have to find another EPP (European People's Party) alternative candidate which is also acceptable to the other big party groups. I think what we are seeing here is a shift back of the decision making from the Parliament to the Council. I think the European Council will effectively decide who they would like to see in that top seat. And the other seats will then be determined accordingly. There has to be some balance. Certainly, I would expect the Socialists to get a top job, I would probably expect the Liberals also to get one. So there has to be quite a complicated re-distribution of portfolios."

STORYLINE
The morning after European Union elections, European Policy Centre Chief Executive Fabian Zuleeg said although nationalist parties had made gains, they would "not be constructive players."
But he predicted the nationalist parties would make the formation of coalitions inside European Parliament difficult, but still would not have a "big influence on how parliament works."
When the European Commission starts the negotiation process of EU top jobs, Zuleeg believes it will be tough for Manfred Weber, top candidate of the European People's Party, to become the new commission president.
"I think the chances are that you will have to find another EPP alternative candidate which is also acceptable to the other party groups," he said.
"I think what we are seeing here is a shift back from the decision making from the Parliament to the European Council."
