అమెరికా-చైనా మధ్య వాణిజ్య చర్చలను పునరుద్ధరించేందుకు ఇరు దేశాల అధ్యక్షుల మధ్య పరస్పర అంగీకారం కుదిరినట్లు చైనా అధికారిక మీడియా వెల్లడించింది. జపాన్ ఒసాకాలో జరిగిన జీ-20 సదస్సులో డొనాల్డ్ ట్రంప్, షీ జిన్పింగ్ సుదీర్ఘంగా భేటీ అయ్యారు. ఇక నుంచి చైనా వస్తువులపై అదనపు సుంకాలు విధించబోమని ట్రంప్ హామీ ఇచ్చినట్లు చైనా మీడియా పేర్కొంది. ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థ మందగమనంలో ఉన్న చైనాకు ట్రంప్తో చర్చల అనంతరం కొద్దిపాటి ఉపశమనం లభించినట్లయింది.
చైనా పట్ల తనకు ఎలాంటి విరోధం లేదని, ఇరు దేశాల మధ్య సంబంధాలు మరింత బలోపేతం అవ్వాలని ఆశిస్తున్నట్లు ట్రంప్ తెలిపారని 'జినువా' పత్రిక పేర్కొంది.
సమానత్వం, పరస్పర గౌరవమే ప్రధానంగా వాణిజ్య చర్చలు పునరుద్ధరిస్తామని చైనా తెలిపింది.
గత నాలుగు దశాబ్దాల కాలంలో అమెరికా-చైనా సంబంధాల్లో చాలా మార్పులు వచ్చినట్లు జిన్పింగ్ చెప్పారు. పరస్పర సహకారం ఇరు దేశాలకు లబ్ధి చేకూరుస్తుందని, విభేదాలతో నష్టపోతామని అభిప్రాయపడ్డారు.

ప్రపంచంలో అతిపెద్ద ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థలు గల రెండు దేశాల మధ్య ఏడాది కాలంగా వాణిజ్య యుద్ధం కొనసాగుతోంది.
250 బిలయన్ డాలర్లు విలువ చేసే చైనా వస్తువులపై 25శాతం సుంకాన్ని విధించారు ట్రంప్. 300బిలయన్ డాలర్లు విలువ చేసే మరికొన్ని వస్తువులపైనా 25శాతం పన్ను విధిస్తామని ఇదివరకే హెచ్చరించారు.
సుంకాల ఉపసంహరణకు ఇరు దేశాల ఉన్నతాధికారులతో కూడిన ప్రత్యేక బృందాలు 11 సార్లు చర్చలు జరిపాయి. ఈ ఏడాది మేలో జరిగిన చర్చలు ఎలాంటి పురోగతి లేకుండానే అర్ధంతరంగా ముగిశాయి. ఇప్పుడు ట్రంప్-జిన్పింగ్ భేటీ నేపథ్యంలో వాణిజ్య యుద్ధానికి ముగింపుపై మరోమారు ఆశలు చిగురించాయి.

LEADIN:
A former homeless man in St. Petersburg has become a local celebrity because of his street knowledge.
He's offering detailed guided tours of the city to tourists, which has helped him survive decades of homelessness and sleeping rough.
STORYLINE:
With his full white beard and a head of messy hair, a decade of sleeping on the streets of St. Petersburg is never far from the memory of 68-year-old Vyacheslav Rasner.
But his affection for the city shines through, making him an unexpectedly popular tour guide.
Each day, Rasner takes up his post outside the Admiralteiskaya subway station at 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m..
There he waits for clients who want him to lead them around a part of the city's main avenue Nevsky Prospekt. Sometimes he gets as many as 30 people for a single tour.

Rasner's excursion mainly covers the detailed stories of about 15 lesser-known historical buildings located next to each other along the avenue.
It's an interesting education for visitors who have already seen the city's more famous sights - but many tourists who join Rasner's tours are mostly excited about the guide's personal story.
"There was a lot of information about this man on social media, they say he has an unusual manner of conducting tours. That's why we decided to take part and watch how it goes," says visitor, Ivan Petrov.
"We have heard his story, read about him and it touched us. That is one of the main reasons why we decided to come on this tour. We decided to support him and at the same time learn more about our beloved city," says visitor, Maria Levchuk.
"Together with my colleagues, I watched online how the old man knows everything about each house, gives tours, tells what is there and knows nearly every stone on Nevsky Avenue. I arrived yesterday and was looking for him but could not find him. And today by a chance I saw him," says another visitor.
Rasner used to work as a geography and biology teacher, and on weekends he freelanced as a city guide.
But 11 years ago, he lost the legal rights for his residential space in a communal apartment due to a real estate scheme.
Homeless, Rasner spent 10 years living on a deserted construction site in the city's central area where he also took care of local stray dogs and cats.
He says the most difficult part of that life was the cold of St. Petersburg's long winters and chilly springs.
He didn't suffer that much from hunger as he says there were always kind people around ready to help with food, plus he was given a special gift:
“One should believe in God and in people. I don’t drink or smoke, and that might be what helped me survive these past severe winters, I slept in a present, which turned out to be a sleeping bag” he says.
Evenutally Rasner decided to get back to his city guide work and started offering people tours of Nevsky Avenue - and it turned his life around.
Rasner's popularity as a guide rocketed after a volunteer at the city's private charity for the homeless "Nochlezhka" (Night Shelter) set up a group about him on Vkontakte, Russia's hugely popular answer to Facebook.
About a year ago a woman, who Rasner describes as a "fan", helped him to find permanent accommodation at a social services building in the city.
Now he has a humble but spacious two-bedroom apartment that he shares with a flat mate and two cats who he adores.
Alexander Vornonov, a social work expert from Nochlezhka charity, says Rasner's story seriously challenges the stereotypical view of the homeless.
"Usually people think that homeless people are those who are lazy, addicted to alcohol or drugs, have no education and are non-cultural. However, Rasner practices the creative work of a tourist guide, has a lot of knowledge about the city and its architecture. This example is on the agenda because it seriously affects homeless stereotypes, but we have other stories which may affect more if they were known to the public. For example opera singers, writers, top managers of famous companies have lived here."
According to Nochlezhka data, around 60,000 people are homeless in St. Petersburg. Of those about 450 having sleeping accomodation at different state and private shelters across the city, others live in cellars, abandoned construction sites or sofa surf with friends or on the streets.
Nochelzha say that homelessness is caused by different factors. Around 50 % of homeless people haved moved to a different city looking for a job but can't get their life on track; 34 % are the result of family problems; 18 % are the victims of fraud and blackmail; other factors include unemployment, leaving prison and alcohol and drug addiction.
Rasner has managed to turn his life around, but his daily life has changed little since he left the streets. He is obsessively punctual, adhering to the same routine as leads his tour groups around the city that is his home.
