Just to give you a sense of the scale of the problem that is four times as much as was spilt in the Exxon Valdez disaster 30 years ago."

10. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Abdullah Ali Fadhel Al-Saadi, Permanent Representative of Yemen to the United Nations:
"Mr. President, the Yemeni Government, while it welcomes the efforts of the United Nations Secretary-General, recalls that the Stockholm agreement came as a step towards building the necessary confidence to move towards a comprehensive solution to the Yemeni crisis. For this, the failure of the Houthis to work with the international community and the Yemeni Government to establish necessary trust will make it impossible to trust them as decision-makers being moved by Iran's terrorist hands."

STORYLINE:
The UN envoy for Yemen on Wednesday urged the country's warring parties to maintain the momentum of the initial pullout of Houthi rebel forces from three port areas.
Martin Griffiths urged the sides to move quickly to larger joint withdrawals - and to work urgently on a political solution to the devastating war.
"We have finally seen that first concrete step towards the implementation of those good words in Sweden in December", Griffiths told the UN Security Council in New York.
In December 2018, talks aimed at brokering peace in Yemen were held in Stockholm and attended by the head of the Houthi delegation Mohammed Abdul-Salam, Yemeni Foreign Minister Khaled al-Yaman, the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom.
Despite the significance of the recent Houthi withdrawal from the key port of Hodeida and two smaller ports, Mark Lowcock, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator warned that a tanker moored there is at risk of exploding and causing a colossal oil spill.
The war erupted in 2014 when the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa.
A Saudi-led coalition joined the war the following year on the side of the government.
