"GLAAD is an incredibly important organization. They have been key in fighting for the acceptance and the inclusion and visibility of LGBTQ people for a while now. You know, if I look back on the 10 years that I've been in the business - things were vastly different 10 years ago. And GLAAD has been a huge part of making sure that the conversation includes us. I'm really grateful to them for that. I think that we're in in an era right now where identity is the way. We're all, no matter who you are, we're all trying to define and to champion each other's identity. And I think GLAAD is the perfect stage to explore that, to dive into that and to celebrate it."

And I was like, 'Guys, like ...' They're, they're just, since day one, online, on social media,. they're so supportive and they really carried my career and, especially, with my sassy songs they were right there with me. And I think about them a lot when I'm writing my future songs. I'm like, I want the sassy queen out there with me."

My name is Elder Reynolds. I'm here to talk about salvation.' Like, you know, I mean, so - but I think I would also probably taken a step back and thought, 'Man, I guess I got something to learn.' And, you know, that's my hope with everybody is to just be patient with the people around you. Be patient with your cousin who you have very different views from, because, with that patience creates a bridge and you talk. And, then, hopefully you have it all together and you listen - instead of just shutting each other out, which I think a lot of people are doing right now. It's a sad thing."

And, so, when I saw the press conference with the chief of police saying, 'Something's not right here.' I do feel like that gets folded into my narrative, as well, and to my thought process is, 'I want to consider his point of view, too.' And I also really empathize for the people who feel offended by what he's done and who believe that what he's done is wrong, because I can see why that would be hurtful. STORYLINE:
GLAAD ATTENDEES TALK ACCEPTANCE, OF AND BY LGBTQ PEOPLE, AS WELL AS HOW THEY'RE PROCESSING LATEST NEWS OF JUSSIE SMOLLETT
For the most part, the ties that bound conversations on the red carpet at the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards were empathy, sympathy, open minds and open hearts.
GLAAD was originally an acronym for "Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation," but the group also serves the bisexual and transgender communities.
In Hollywood, two of GLAAD's biggest roles are to serve as both a watchdog to assure those groups are represented in media, and accurately - as well as resource for media producers looking to assure that accuracy.
"GLAAD is an incredibly important organization," noted recording artist Adam Lambert, who is openly gay. "They have been key in fighting for the acceptance and the inclusion and visibility of LGBTQ people for a while now.
The GLAAD Media Awards is, itself, inclusive, honoring those outside its membership who have provided support to the LGBTQ communities - many, in turn, developing big LGBTQ fan bases.
The night's honorees including Beyonce and Jay-Z.
Guests included recording artist Meghan Trainor, who recalled an Atlanta gay pride concert being one of the first signs she may find success.
"I was like, 'Whoa! This crowd loves me!'" Trainor remembered. "Like they were - the most, the kindest crowd and the loudest crowd and the most supportive. When I only had like one hit, they were like, 'Oh! Your songs! We love you.' And I was like, 'Guys, like ...' They're, they're just, since day one, online, on social media,. they're so supportive and they really carried my career and, especially, with my sassy songs they were right there with me. And I think about them a lot when I'm writing my future songs. I'm like, I want the sassy queen out there with me."
Imagine Dragons' lead singer Dan Reynolds' film "Believer," which explores how the Mormon Church's policies affect the LGBTQ community, was nominated for outstanding documentary.
Reynolds was raised and remains a member of  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), but now is a major support of GLAAD and other LGBTQ organizations.
What would the younger, by-the-book version of Reynolds think of the grown-up version attending the GLAAD Awards?
"I think a young Dan would be ... What would I be?" Reynolds asked, then paused for moment. "Probably pretty baffled. I mean, I was like the Mormon guy in the Broadway musical ("The Book of Mormon"), who was like (Reynolds begins to sing like the characters in the stage show), 'Hello./My name is Elder Reynolds./I'm here to talk about salvation.' "
Reynolds stopped singing and continued talking, "I think I would also probably taken a step back and thought, 'Man, I guess I got something to learn.' And, you know, that's my hope with everybody is to just be patient with the people around you. Be patient with your cousin who you have very different views from, because, with that patience creates a bridge and you talk. And, then, hopefully you have it all together and you listen - instead of just shutting each other out, which I think a lot of people are doing right now. It's a sad thing."
Attendees polled were universally on the fence when asked how they were processing the news about "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett.
Earlier this week, all charges were suddenly dropped against Smollett, who was indicted on 16 felony counts related to making a false report to police.
Veteran actress Yeardley Smith, whose best-known credit is providing the voice of Lisa Simpson to "The Simpsons" for the last 30 years, said, "I'm a big proponent of '99-percent of law enforcement is doing the very best job there can, and doing a really good job to make sure that all of the pieces fall into place perfectly so that justice can be served because if they don't justice isn't.' And, so, when I saw the press conference with the chief of police saying, 'Something's not right here.' I do feel like that gets folded into my narrative, as well, and to my thought process is, 'I want to consider his point of view, too.' I think it's very complicated and I don't feel like we're being told the whole story."
Nichole Bloom, an actress on the sitcom hit "Superstore," commented, "Whether you believe what's happened or not, like, I think, I think it just all comes down to empathy. Like, we're all human beings. People do crazy shit. They have their reasons. They have, you know, emotional stuff that we can't understand because we haven't walked in their shoes. And I also really empathize for the people who feel offended by what he's done and who believe that what he's done is wrong, because I can see why that would be hurtful. So, I just you know I guess, the only thing I can do is sort of try to understand everyone's perspective."
Recording artist Trainor was asked if she would sum up her take about Smollett situation in an emoji, and she complied:
"The one with the explosives out the head," Trainor said, adding a loud, perplexed
