TVNZ – NO ACCESS NEW ZEALAND
Dunedin – 27 March 2019
1. Various of New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern visiting an Islamic early childhood centre, reading to children
2. Ardern arriving at news conference
3. SOUNDBITE (English) Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand Prime Minister:
"One of the things I've been very aware of, this was the city where the perpetrator of the terrorist attack in Christchurch was living at the time, and the message I've received from our local MPs (Members of Parliament) is that the Muslim community here were acutely aware of that. I wanted to come to visit with them, to hear and talk about their concerns and just have a chance for listening, really."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand Prime Minister:
"They, as many other members of the Muslim community throughout New Zealand, have raised was just the love and support they've received from those around them. There was one woman in a room who said she had lived in New Zealand for more than a decade but she had never felt more at home than she had in the last ten days, and I find that such an astounding message in the wake of what the community has experienced."

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand Prime Minister:
"There was a discussion over what would happen next, what we could do to make sure the community continues to feel safe, particularly women who so obviously wear their faith and we talked a little about the ongoing police presence and that will continue for the time being but then beyond that, our job is to make sure the community and New Zealand as a whole knows that safety is our number one priority and to give that sense of security. Equally members of the community everywhere can give that sense of security as well."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand Prime Minister:
"One of the results of this horrific terrorist attack has been that we've seen New Zealanders from all walks of life visiting their local mosque, talking with members of their local Muslim community and that's something that actually the community themselves have talked quite a bit about."
++BLACK FRAMES++
7. SOUNDBITE (English) Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand Prime Minister:
"One of the things that I'll be looking to over in overseas examples is what kind of work has been done in the aftermath of a terrorist attack like this to make sure that we do everything we can to prevent this ever happening again, and that does mean looking at some of those examples from those who have experienced this kind of attack in a way that New Zealand hasn't before."
++BLACK FRAMES++
8. SOUNDBITE (English) Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand Prime Minister:
"Certainly, I've seen an interest in New Zealand's response, no question. Obviously, this was a very direct attack on our New Zealand Muslim community, and so, understandably, there has been a focus from leaders and nations on the response. The feedback that I've had sometimes very directly, phone calls and messages, has been overwhelmed at the response of New Zealanders. They've seen the images of New Zealanders standing outside mosque gates, leaving flowers, singing songs and have remarked at how extraordinary they consider that to be."
9. Ardern leaving
STORYLINE:

She also visited an Islamic early learning centre and read a book to the children.
