ఆల్రౌండర్గా కొనసాగాలంటే ఫిట్గా ఉండడం తప్పనిసరి అని అంటున్నాడు టీమిండియా యువ ఆటగాడు శివమ్ దూబే. విండీస్తో సిరీస్లో సత్తాచాటి జట్టులో స్థానాన్ని సుస్థిరం చేసుకోవాలని చూస్తున్నాడు.

ఇటీవల బంగ్లాదేశ్తో జరిగిన మూడు టీ20ల సిరీస్లో అరంగేట్రం చేసి సత్తాచాటాడు టీమిండియా యువ ఆల్రౌండర్ శివమ్ దూబే. దేశవాళీలో ఆకట్టుకుంటున్న ఈ క్రికెటర్ ఫిట్నెస్పైనే దృష్టి పెడతానని అంటున్నాడు. అదే విధంగా జట్టులో స్థానాన్ని సుస్థిరపరచుకునేందుకు కృషి చేస్తానని చెబుతున్నాడు.

"ఫిట్గా ఉండేందుకు గంటల కొద్ది శ్రమిస్తా. ఆల్‌రౌండర్‌గా నా స్కిల్స్‌ పెంచుకోవడానికి ఎప్పుడూ ప్రయత్నిస్తుంటా. మ్యాచ్‌లు లేని సమయాల్లో నా బౌలింగ్‌ను మెరుగుపర్చుకోవడంపై ప్రత్యేక శ్రద్ధ పెడతా. అక్కడ నేర్చుకున్నవి మ్యాచ్ల్లో అమలు చేస్తా. బ్యాటింగ్, బౌలింగ్ రెండు విభాగాల్లో దృష్టి సారిస్తున్నందున కొన్నిసార్లు ఇబ్బందులు ఎదురవుతాయి. అయితే ఆల్‌రౌండర్‌గా ఉన్నపుడు ఇలాంటివి ఎదుర్కొనక తప్పదు. జట్టులో స్థానాన్ని సుస్థిరపరచుకోవాలని అనుకుంటున్నా" - శివమ్ దూబే, టీమిండియా ఆల్రౌండర్

"Everyday our mental health clinics in Lesbos treat men, women and children who have been pushed to the edge. Suicidal thoughts and self harm are the consequences of living in miserable conditions in unsafe and horrific places like the Moria camp. We have seen cases of children who have attempted suicide, some of them not yet 10 years old. Others have stopped playing, have stopped eating, drinking, talking, they can't sleep. So these children have fled war zones but they lost their childhood inside Europe."

"This needs to stop now. That is why we call European leaders for an immediate end of this policy that is trapping thousands of people on the Greek islands. We ask them to stop this deliberate collective punishment of people seeking safety in Europe. We urge them to evacuate the most vulnerable people from these centres by providing safe accommodation, access to basic health and the essential drugs on the mainland and in other European states. We urge them once and for all to break the cycle of suffering on the Greek islands. We must put an end to this endless drama, to this human tragedy. Europe's leaders must stop implementing policies which bring misery to people who are simply seeking safety."

"I am angry because what we see is not new, it has been happening for years and it just gets worse. I am angry because the European Union that I have learned about in school, the one that is built on human rights and solidarity, it does not exist on the Greek islands. When I think of Lesbos I think of the European leaders who know perfectly well what is happening but who choose the status quo, who chose not to provide the very most basic protection to people seeking safety. And to be very honest I wonder how they sleep at night. Thank you."

"Let me be clear: there is nothing humanitarian about this deal (EU-Turkey migration deal). European migration policies, whether in the Balkans or in the Mediterranean Sea or in Aegean Sea, have relied on three components to deter migrants from seeking protection in Europe: that is to outsource EU responsibilities to other countries, to contain people at European borders, whether on the Greek islands or just outside the EU, for indefinite periods of time, and to assume that most people arriving in Europe are not vulnerable and that they can easily return to other countries. This has resulted in the systematic denial of fights for thousands of people seeking protection. Instead on focusing on assistance, the past few years we have seen European states creating obstacles in accessing care and identifying vulnerable people."

STORYLINE:
Medecins Sans Frontiere (MSF) on Wednesday urged European Union leaders to put an end to the "outrageous" situation of migrants in camps on the Greek islands.
At a news conference in Brussels, MSF president Christos Christou denounced the "political choice" of EU countries towards migrants in camps the bloc's borders, saying the humanitarian situation was getting worse.
Christou, who had recently returned from a visit to a migrant camp in Lesbos, described what he saw, especially regarding kids and persons in need.
"We have seen cases of children who have attempted suicide, some of them not yet ten years old. Others have stopped playing, have stopped eating, drinking, talking, they can't sleep. So these children have fled war zones but they lost their childhood inside Europe" Christou said.
MSF sent an open letter to EU leaders as a warning sign.
"This needs to stop now. That is why we call European leaders for an immediate end of this policy that is trapping thousands of people on the Greek islands," Christou said during the conference.
Project Coordinator of the MSF project in Lesbos Caroline Willemen also denounced the attitude of EU leaders towards migrants, wondering out loud how they can sleep at night.
"I am angry because what we see is not new, it has been happening for years and it just gets worse. I am angry because the European Union that I have learned about in school, the one that is built on human rights and solidarity, it does not exist on the Greek islands." Willemen said.
Greece announced plans last Wednesday to overhaul its migration management system, replacing overcrowded refugee camps on the islands with smaller detention facilities and moving some 20,000 asylum seekers to the mainland over the next few weeks.
