మైదానంలో చెమటలు చిందించే క్రికెటర్లు.. వెండితెరపై హీరోయిన్ల పక్కన చిందులేయడానికి సిద్ధమవుతున్నారు. ఇర్ఫాన్ పఠాన్, హర్భజన్ సింగ్ ముఖానికి మేకప్ వేసుకోబోతున్నారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా ఇప్పటివరకు తెరంగేట్రం చేసిన కొంతమంది ఆటగాళ్లపై ఓ లుక్కేద్దాం.

వీళ్లు బ్యాట్పడితే ప్రత్యర్థి బౌలర్లకు చుక్కలు... బౌలింగ్ వేస్తే ముచ్చెమటలు.. మైదానంలో బౌండరీలు, వికెట్లతో విజృంభించే క్రికెటర్లు వెండితెరపైనా తమ అదృష్టాన్ని పరీక్షించుకుంటున్నారు. ఇటీవలే టీమిండియా పేసర్ శ్రీశాంత్ హీరోగా మెప్పించాడు. తాజాగా ఇర్ఫాన్ పఠాన్, హర్భజన్సింగ్ తెరంగేట్రం చేయనున్నారు. ఇలా బిగ్స్క్రీన్పై మెరిసిన కొంత మంది క్రికెటర్లను ఇప్పుడు చూద్దాం.

సచిన్ తెందూల్కర్..

క్రికెట్ దేవుడు సచిన్ తెందూల్కర్ ఆట కోసం ప్రాణంపెట్టి అరుదైన రికార్డులు సొంతం చేసుకున్నాడు. అయితే తన బయోపిక్లో తానే నటించి మరో ఘనతనూ సాధించాడు. 'సచిన్ బిలియనీర్స్ డ్రీమ్' పేరుతో 2017లో వచ్చిన ఈ సినిమా మాస్టర్ ప్రస్థానాన్ని వెండితెరపై ఆవిష్కరింపజేసింది.

యువీ బ్యాటింగ్కు అభిమానులు ఫిదా అయిపోతుంటారు. ఒకవేళ క్రికెటర్ కాకపోయినట్లయితే హీరో అవుదామనుకునే ఆలోచనలో ఉండేవాడట ఈ సిక్సర్ల వీరుడు. అంతేకాదు చిన్నతనంలోనే ఓ పంజాబీ చిత్రంలో బాలనటుడిగానూ మెప్పించాడు. 2008లో వచ్చిన 'జుంబో' అనే యానిమేటెడ్ సినిమాలో ఓ పాత్రకు తన గొంతు అరువిచ్చాడు.

2017లో వచ్చిన 'అక్సర్ 2' చిత్రంతో నటనలో ఓనమాలు నేర్చుకున్నాడు శ్రీశాంత్. అనంతరం మలయాళ చిత్రాలు టీమ్5, కాబారెట్లో మెప్పించాడు. కన్నడలోనూ 'కెంపెగౌడ2' అనే సినిమాలో నటించాడు. 2013 స్పాట్ ఫిక్సింగ్ అనంతరం క్రికెట్కు దూరమైన శ్రీశాంత్... ఇటీవల ఓ వెబ్సిరీస్లోనూ అడుగుపెట్టేందుకు ఓకే చెప్పేశాడు.

క్రికెట్లో తనదైన ప్రదర్శనతో అత్యంత విజయవంతమైన ఆటగాడిగా పేరు తెచ్చుకున్నాడు సునీల్ గావస్కర్. ఓ పక్క క్రికెటర్గానే కాకుండా నటనతోనూ ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. 1980లో 'సావ్లీ ప్రేమాచీ' అనే మరాఠీ చిత్రంలో నటించాడు. ఇందులో ఓ పాట కూడా ఆలపించాడు సన్నీ.

అజయ్ జడేజా..

1990లో భారత స్టార్ క్రికెటర్గా గుర్తింపు తెచ్చుకున్నాడు అజయ్ జడేజా. అనంతరం మ్యాచ్ ఫిక్సింగ్ ఆరోపణలతో ఆటకు దూరమయ్యాడు. 2003లో వచ్చిన ఖేల్ చిత్రంలో హీరోగా తన అదృష్టాన్ని పరీక్షించుకున్నాడు. అయితే ఆ సినిమా అనుకున్నంత ఆడకపోవడం వల్ల ప్రస్తుతం వ్యాఖ్యాత అవతారమెత్తాడు.

వినోద్ కాంబ్లీ..

సచిన్ తెందూల్కర్ స్నేహితుడు, మాజీ క్రికెటర్ వినోద్ కాంబ్లీ 2000లో క్రికెట్కు దూరమయ్యాడు. అనంతరం బాలీవుడ్లో 'అనర్థ్' అనే చిత్రంలో నటించాడు. ఇందులో సునీల్ శెట్టి హీరో. అయితే ఈ సినిమా అనుకున్నంత స్థాయిలో ఆడలేదు.

కపిల్దేవ్...

భారత్కు తొలి ప్రపంచకప్ అందించిన దిగ్గజం కపిల్దేవ్. బ్యాటింగ్, బౌలింగ్ల్లో తనదైన ఆటతో సత్తాచాటిన కపిల్.. సినిమాల్లోనూ నటించి ఆల్రౌండర్ అనిపించుకున్నాడు. పూర్తి స్థాయిలో కాకపోయినా చిన్న చిన్న పాత్రల్లో కనిపించాడు. 'ఇక్బాల్', 'ముజ్ సే షాదీ కరోగే' లాంటి చిత్రాల్లో ప్రత్యేక పాత్రల్లో మెరిశాడు.

యోగ్రాజ్సింగ్...

యువరాజ్ సింగ్ తండ్రి యోగ్రాజ్సింగ్ భారత్ తరపున ఓ టెస్టుతో పాటు ఆరు వన్డేలకు ప్రాతినిధ్యం వహించాడు. అనంతరం 30 పంజాబీ చిత్రాల్లోనూ నటించాడు. 2013లో విడుదలైన 'బాగ్ మిల్కా బాగ్' చిత్రం యోగ్రాజ్సింగ్కు బాగా గుర్తింపు తీసుకొచ్చింది.

"I am definitely proud of my (England) team-mates and my friends and everyone involved in our nation tonight (Monday). It wasn't easy for anyone. We made a decision, as a team, to carry on playing. You see us come together before half-time and we said we were playing until half-time and then get together, and decide what we want to do. Yeah everyone wanted to carry on and do their talking on the pitch, which I am extremely proud of. It is not easy to play in circumstances like that. But the 6-0 victory and the way we played, the manner in which we played, I am extremely proud of, for sure."

Reporter: And a great result. When the referee followed the protocol and he put out the announcement, booed from the home (Bulgaria) fans, hissed and jeered at. The game carried on. Did that send out a strong enough message, do you think?
"Whether the UEFA protocol is strong enough, I am not sure. Whether any racial abuse should be allowed at any time, probably it should not be. Obviously, the protocol at the moment allows there to be an announcement, there to be two or three steps before the players are taken off the pitch. It is unacceptable to be racist once. So, yeah, I feel there can be stronger punishment, stronger protocols but, like I said, from our point of view as a team, we stuck together, we showed unity. We have done what we wanted to do. And that is the most important thing.

Reporter: How close did you come to not coming back (onto the football pitch) after half-time?
"Well like I said, there was a discussion in the changing room and everyone wanted to carry on playing. So, yeah, if there was players who didn't, we would not have come back out and played. But that shows the squad, and the maturity and the character - that everyone wanted to come back out and play."

(About how the racist abuse was not as prevalent after half-time)
"I think it was a lot better, yeah. I am obviously disappointed that it happened, but there are protocols in place to deal with these things and I certainly think it helped tonight (Monday). The second half was a lot better and we took the appropriate steps and the appropriate action. So, yeah, we did what we could. I think the officials did all they could. And, at the moment with those protocols in place, that is all we can do and that is all they can do."

Reporter: In terms of what you heard and experienced, I mean one England fan was actually in the home supporters (section) and he told us he heard monkey chants from the first minute. I mean, was it to that extent?
"I mean, I heard it before I even got to the other side of the pitch in the warm-up. So, we spoke about it coming off the pitch after the warm-up, and then obviously it was happening in the game. But, like I said, it is difficult to kind of categorise the whole country. I think it is perhaps a minority and the second half was a lot better. So perhaps a victory all round."

Reporter: Just a final point, if the protocols were followed through, then there was a case where play may have been suspended, even the match abandoned. Did it cross your mind or the other players' mind, that that could happen or indeed should happen, Tyrone?
"Yeah it definitely crossed our mind. We had a conversation about it at half-time. Did we want to play on? Did we want to stop? But we made a collective decision to continue the game. We thought it was important that we had heard it, and that the protocols had been followed. And, if it happened again, we would have then perhaps moved on to the next step and come off the pitch. But, like I said, the second half was better and we put in an emphatic performance."

STORYLINE:
England captain Harry Kane and defender Tyrone Mings spoke after the racist abuse the 'Three Lions' players received during their emphatic 6-0 Euro 2020 qualifier victory over Bulgaria in Sofia on Monday.
The match was stopped twice because of racist behaviour enacted by home supporters, which included Nazi salutes and monkey chants.
The president of the Bulgaria Football Union, Borislav Mihaylov, resigned on Tuesday, while UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin called on the "football family and governments to wage war on the racists".
Kane spoke of his pride at how England's players responded to the unsavoury incidents, while Mings said he heard racist abuse from the Bulgaria supporters before the match had kicked off during the warm-up.
England are top of qualifying Group A with five wins from six matches.
