కర్ణాటక కొప్పల్‌ జిల్లా గంగావతిలో 1968 మార్చి 23న శ్రీకాంత్ జన్మించాడు. ధార్వాడ్‌లోని కర్ణాటక విశ్వ విద్యాలయంలో బీకామ్‌ పూర్తి చేసిన ఆయన, ఆ తర్వాత సినిమా రంగంపై అభిరుచితో ఫిల్మ్‌ ఇన్‌స్టిట్యూట్‌లో చేరి డిప్లొమా పొందాడు. పలు చిత్రాల్లో ఆయనతో కలిసి నటించిన కథానాయిక 'ఊహ'ని ప్రేమించి పెళ్లి చేసుకున్నాడు. ఈ జంటకి ముగ్గురు పిల్లలు.. రోషన్, రోహన్ తో పాటు మేథ అనే అమ్మాయి ఉంది.
