STORYLINE:
UK's Prime Minister Boris Johnson has invited the Iranian president to London and stressed the need for dialogue.
Johnson held a bilateral meeting with Hassan Rouhani at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday.
He said their meeting in Tehran "was productive but inconclusive."
"I think we still have a lot of progress to make," Johnson said.
Downing Street said in a statement the prime minister also called for the "immediate release of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and other dual nationals illegally imprisoned in Iran" during his meeting with President Rouhani.
Before the meeting, French President Emmanuel Macron and Johnson were seeing chatting with  Rouhani.
Macron was heard saying:"I don't know your project. And President Trump will not go to Tehran. So, it has to be now."
Johnson concurred adding: "I think I agree with Emmanuel. You need to be on the side of the swimming pool and jump at the same time."
French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday the conditions were right for a rapid restart of negotiations between the United States and Iran on its nuclear program and regional security.
Macron spoke after meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting.
He told reporters Tuesday night that talks this week had laid the groundwork for the negotiations to recommence.
The meetings come at a time of extreme tension, after a Saudi Arabia oil field was partially destroyed in an attack that the United States blamed on Iran.
Iran denies it was responsible.
