2. SOUNDBITE (English) Moran Atias, actress, on her NBC show "The Village":
"Well it is a show for everybody because on the screen, we see everybody. We see a veteran coming back home trying to enter a civilian life. We see a mother and a daughter going through, I don't know if I reveal it but through a teenager pregnancy. We see a couple fighting a disease and we see an older man who's 88 years old and is the sweetheart of this universe rebuilding a connection with his grandchild that is trying to create a career for himself. And we see my character who is an immigrant like most of my friends and most of the people I know in this country that really loves this country. You know, and I guess from my point of view, I understand that there's challenges and things to improve like in every country, but America is a great country. It's still amazing, it's still the land of opportunities and dreams."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Moran Atias, actress, on connecting to her character Ava:
"I grew up in Israel and we have the Kibbutz which is like this communal system of a neighborhood let's say, of its own little village. That was just magical. We all shared one fridge. For some people I guess it wasn't great because who is getting… No, but it's a sense like we are sharing. This is all for us, we are working for the same objective, for the same goal and we all want to be happy and we all want to know that someone cares. That someone actually cares not through a message. I mean, come on, how annoying is that? Emoji, happy. Emoji, (makes peace sign), no, I want a little bit more than that and I want to hear your voice, I want to see your face, I want to feel your touch and you have that feeling in 'The Village.'"

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Moran Atias, actress, on how she personally feels when she hears about the recent rise in anti-Semitism in America.
"You know, my immediate reaction is it breaks my heart. It hurts, it really hurts, and it reminds me and brings me back to when I grew up in Israel and we first learned about different wars and the Holocaust. I was just as a little child thinking like, why do they hate us? It just really made me sad and made me want to show to the world that I am a good person and you shouldn't hate me or kill me or put me in a certain box. So, it always hits home to me like in a very deep way. I always feel like a little girl getting hurt for not being met with anybody, without even allowing someone else to enter my heart and my soul."

STORYLINE:
MORAN ATIAS PROMISES 'THE VILLAGE' IS A SHOW FOR EVERYONE
Israel-born actress Moran Atias is currently one of the stars of the new American TV series "The Village," a show about humanity that is relatable to most people living in America.
"The Village" is an apartment building in Brooklyn where it's residents have built a bonded family of friends and neighbors.
"Well it is a show for everybody because on the screen, we see everybody," said Atias. "We see a veteran coming back home trying to enter a civilian life.
Atias explained she's familiar with living in a communal area where everyone genuinely cares for one another.
"I grew up in Israel and we have the Kibbutz which is like this communal system of a neighborhood let's say, of its own little village. That was just magical," said Atias. "We all shared one fridge.
The 37-year-old actress portrays Ava, an Iranian immigrant who has lived in the U.S. for over ten years. Atias was instantly drawn to the project. Even though she's become a U.S. citizen now and loves living in America, she is still very connecting to her homeland Israel.
Sadly year after year, decade after decade, anti-Semitism proves to be among the most entrenched and pervasive forms of hatred and bigotry in the United States.
Jews make up only about 2 percent of the U.S. population, but in annual FBI data they repeatedly account for more than half of the Americans targeted by hate crimes committed due to religious bias. The Anti-Defamation League identified 1,986 anti-Semitic incidents in the U.S. in 2017, up from 1,267 in 2016, and also reported a major increase in anti-Semitic online harassment.
Every time an attack on the Jewish community takes place, Atias said it breaks her heart.
"It hurts, it really hurts, and it reminds me and brings me back to when I grew up in Israel and we first learned about different wars and the Holocaust. I was just as a little child thinking like, why do they hate us?" Atias said. "It just really made me sad and made me want to show to the world that I am a good person and you shouldn't hate me or kill me or put me in a certain box. So, it always hits home to me like in a very deep way."
"The Village" also stars Dominic Chianese, Warren Christie, Frankie Faison, Jerod Haynes, Daren Kagasoff, Michaela McManus, Lorraine Toussaint and Grace Van Dien. The season premieres Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 10/9c on NBC.
