దేశ ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థ మెరుగుపడాలంటే.. ఆటోమొబైల్స్పై వస్తు, సేవల పన్ను(జీఎస్టీ)ని తగ్గించాలనే అభిప్రాయం వ్యక్తం చేశారు మహీంద్రా సంస్థల ఛైర్మన్ ఆనంద్ మహీంద్రా. చిన్న కంపెనీలు, ఉపాధి కల్పనను ఈ రంగం అతిగా ప్రభావితం చేస్తుందని తెలిపారు.
ఇటీవలి కాలంలో ఆటోమొబైల్ విక్రయాలు భారీగా క్షీణించాయి. మే నెలలో ప్యాసింజర్ వాహనాల అమ్మకాలు 20 శాతానికిపైగా తగ్గాయి. విక్రయాలు ఇంతలా తగ్గడం 18 ఏళ్లలో తొలిసారి. గతంలో 2001 సెప్టెంబర్లో అమ్మకాలు 21.91 శాతం పతనమయ్యాయి.
ఫెడరేషన్ ఆఫ్ ఆటోమొబైల్ డీలర్స్ అసోసియేషన్స్(ఎఫ్ఏడీఏ) మాజీ అధ్యక్షుడు.. జాన్ పాల్ ఇటీవలి ఓ సదస్సులో భారత ఆటోమొబైల్ రంగం వృద్ధి దిశగా పరుగులు తీయాలంటే జీఎస్టీ తగ్గించాల్సిన అవసరం ఉందని పేర్కొన్నారు. దేశంలో మూడో వంతు ఉద్యోగాలు ఈ రంగంలోనే ఉన్నాయన్నారాయన. ఈయన వ్యాఖ్యలను 'ఆటోకార్ ప్రొఫెషనల్' అనే ఆటోమేటివ్ మేగజీన్ ట్వీట్ చేసింది.
