రక్షణమంత్రిగా బాధ్యతలు చేపట్టిన అనంతరం తొలిసారి రాజ్​నాథ్​ సింగ్​ సోమవారం జమ్ముకశ్మీర్​లో పర్యటించారు. అక్కడి తాజా పరిస్థితులు, భద్రతపై ఉన్నతాధికారులతో చర్చలు జరిపారు. ఇందులో సైన్యాధిపతి బిపిన్​ రావత్​, ఆర్మీ కమాండర్​ లెఫ్టినెంట్​ జనరల్​ రణ్​బీర్​ సింగ్​ తదితరులు పాల్గొన్నారు.

సరిహద్దు నియంత్రణ రేఖ, ఉగ్రవాద నిరోధక​ ఆపరేషన్లపై అధికారులు రక్షణమంత్రికి సమాచారం అందించారు. కశ్మీర్​లో సాధారణ పరిస్థితులు నెలకొల్పడానికి చేపట్టిన చర్యలను అధికారులు వివరించారు.

ప్రపంచంలోనే ఎత్తయిన సైనిక స్థావరం సియాచిన్​ను సందర్శించారు రాజ్​నాథ్​ సింగ్​. అక్కడి భద్రతా పరిస్థితులపై అధికారులను అడిగి తెలుసుకున్నారు.

సియాచిన్ మంచు పర్వతం వద్దకు వెళ్లి అక్కడి ఫీల్డ్​ కమాండర్లు, సైనికులతో మాట్లాడారు. వారితో కలిసి అల్పాహారం చేశారు.
