రక్షణమంత్రిగా బాధ్యతలు చేపట్టిన అనంతరం తొలిసారి రాజ్నాథ్ సింగ్ సోమవారం జమ్ముకశ్మీర్లో పర్యటించారు. అక్కడి తాజా పరిస్థితులు, భద్రతపై ఉన్నతాధికారులతో చర్చలు జరిపారు. ఇందులో సైన్యాధిపతి బిపిన్ రావత్, ఆర్మీ కమాండర్ లెఫ్టినెంట్ జనరల్ రణ్బీర్ సింగ్ తదితరులు పాల్గొన్నారు.

సరిహద్దు నియంత్రణ రేఖ, ఉగ్రవాద నిరోధక ఆపరేషన్లపై అధికారులు రక్షణమంత్రికి సమాచారం అందించారు. కశ్మీర్లో సాధారణ పరిస్థితులు నెలకొల్పడానికి చేపట్టిన చర్యలను అధికారులు వివరించారు.

ప్రపంచంలోనే ఎత్తయిన సైనిక స్థావరం సియాచిన్ను సందర్శించారు రాజ్నాథ్ సింగ్. అక్కడి భద్రతా పరిస్థితులపై అధికారులను అడిగి తెలుసుకున్నారు.

సియాచిన్ మంచు పర్వతం వద్దకు వెళ్లి అక్కడి ఫీల్డ్ కమాండర్లు, సైనికులతో మాట్లాడారు. వారితో కలిసి అల్పాహారం చేశారు.
