'పౌర' నిరసనలపై కేసులు.. భీమ్ ఆర్మీ అధినేత అరెస్ట్

దేశ రాజధాని దిల్లీ సహా పలు రాష్ట్రాల్లో పౌరసత్వ చట్టానికి వ్యతిరేకంగా శుక్రవారం చెలరేగిన హింసాత్మక ఘటనలపై చర్యలు చేపట్టారు పోలీసులు. దిల్లీ దరియాగంజ్ ఘటనలో భీమ్ ఆర్మీ అధినేత చంద్రశేఖర్ ఆజాద్ను నిర్బంధంలోకి తీసుకున్న పోలీసులు తాజాగా అరెస్టు చేశారు. మహారాష్ట్రలో 26 మందిని అదుపులోకి తీసుకున్నారు. 130 మందిపై కేసులు పెట్టారు. మధ్యప్రదేశ్లో 35 మందిని అరెస్ట్ చేశారు. జబల్పుర్లో కర్ఫ్యూ విధించారు.

పౌరసత్వ చట్టాన్ని వ్యతిరేకిస్తూ చెలరేగిన హింసాత్మక ఘటనలపై చర్యలకు ఉపక్రమించారు పోలీసులు. ప్రజాఆస్తుల ధ్వంసం, పోలీసుల విధులకు ఆటంకం కలిగించిన వారిని అరెస్టు చేస్తున్నారు. ఈ క్రమంలో దిల్లీ దరియాగంజ్లో శుక్రవారం అల్లర్లకు సంబంధించి భీమ్ ఆర్మీ అధినేత చంద్రశేఖర్ ఆజాద్ను నిర్బంధంలోకి తీసుకున్న పోలీసులు తాజాగా అరెస్ట్ చేశారు.
భీమ్ ఆర్మీ ఆధ్వర్యంలో జామా మసీద్ నుంచి జంతర్ మంతర్ వరకు నిరసన ర్యాలీ నిర్వహించిన క్రమంలో హింసాత్మక ఘటనలు చోటు చేసుకున్నాయి. దరియాగంజ్ అల్లర్లకు సంబంధించి చంద్రశేఖర్ ఆజాద్తో కలుపుకుని ఇప్పటి వరకు మొత్తం 16 మందిని అరెస్ట్ చేశారు.

పౌర చట్టానికి వ్యతిరేకంగా మహారాష్ట్ర హింగోలి జిల్లాలోని మరాఠావాడ ప్రాంతంలో హింసాత్మక ఘటనలకు పాల్పడిన 130 మందిపై కేసులు నమోదు చేశారు పోలీసులు. 20 మందిని అరెస్ట్ చేశారు. హింగోలి నగరం, కలమ్నూరి టౌన్లో శుక్రవారం జరిగిన అల్లర్లలో పోలీసులపై రాళ్లదాడికి పాల్పడ్డారు నిరనసకారులు. ప్రజాఆస్తుల ధ్వంసంపై చర్యలు తీసుకున్నట్లు వెల్లడించారు పోలీసులు.

మధ్యప్రదేశ్లో పౌర చట్టానికి వ్యతిరేకంగా శుక్రవారం అల్లర్లు చెలరేగిన ఘటనలో 35 మందిని అరెస్ట్ చేశారు పోలీసులు. నిన్న జరిగిన రాళ్లదాడిలో 20 మంది పోలీసులకు తీవ్ర గాయాలైనట్లు అధికారులు తెలిపారు. జబల్పుర్ నగరంలోని గోహల్పుర్, హనుమాంతల్ పోలీస్ స్టేషన్ ప్రాంతం, కోత్వాలి, అధర్తా ప్రాంతాల్లో కర్ఫ్యూ విధించారు పోలీసులు. భోపాల్లో ఆరు గంటల పాటు అంతర్జాల సేవలు నిలిపివేశారు.

"Yes, we definitely are used to these winter conditions. Our winter lasts almost six months, so the conditions are very familiar to us. The coldest weather was -28 degrees (Celsius) once I was racing, but of course, it's not so pleasant any more with that temperature. Both driver and horse are a bit frozen. As well the transportation vehicles and other equipment and so on. Of course, racing is more comfortable, easy when it's plus 25 degrees Celsius, so definitely the summer season is our favourite."

"Yes, it's challenging to have new audiences in the racing events. I think we are living in challenging times as there are not so much of new audiences and hobbyists. For sure, this kind of events are kind of happenings that should be arranged more often, but it's always a question of resources. We deeply hope that the audience is enjoying, and young people will get interested in harness racing. It would be great to have new hobbyists and that way makes this sport more well known. That is what we wish for."

The first-ever Arctic Horse Race event has been staged in Rovaniemi, the capital of Finnish Lapland.
Organisers hope the concept will attract new, younger audiences to harness racing, a sport that's thought to have begun in the 1700s.
STORYLINE:
Racing round this ice track, harness racing drivers hoping to pick up a trophy at the first-ever "Arctic Horse Race" event in Rovaniemi.
Perched on the edge of the Arctic Circle, winters can last for up to six months here, with temperatures sometimes dropping down to minus 25 degrees Celsius.
That leaves little choice for the country's harness drivers who, along with their horses, brave cold temperatures to race.
Rovaniemi's Mantyvaara horse race centre is staging the event to attract winter crowds to the sport.
The city is billed as the "Official Hometown of Santa Claus" and attracts some half a million visitors every year, according to the local tourist board.
"The challenge is a race for the drivers. Twelve drivers drive in three races and it's a point competition. They get the points with the results on the races and we get the points. And the best one in three races is the winner," explains Ilkka Nisula from betting company Veikkaus.
Racing in such low temperatures is challenging for both horse and driver. Nisula says competitors shouldn't start too fast.
"You have to be careful with the speed," he says.
"If you drive very fast in the beginning, at the wintertime, there finishing stretch can be really tough for the horse if he gets tired. So, if you get tired in the winter time, they come slow to the finishing line."
Helping launch the new arctic-themed event is US harness racing driver Tim Tetrick, who's made the journey from New Jersey, US to compete in his first-ever ice track race.
Tetrick is the only American taking part in the race, that's mostly made of Finnish, Swedish and Norwegian drivers.
"Well, a little bit different with these Finnish cold bloods, but I'm excited to do it," says Tetrick.
"I've never raced on a snow track - or an ice track, as they call it - but that's gonna be exciting. But the main objective still is to get behind that horse and steer him and try to get to the winner's circle first."
To help them race across the sometimes slippery ice track, horses are fitted with special shoes with nails to grip the surface.
"Our winter lasts almost six months, so the conditions are very familiar to us," says Finnish harness racing driver Petteri Joki, who's from Rovaniemi.
"The coldest weather was -28 degrees (Celsius) once I was racing, but of course, it's not so pleasant any more with that temperature. Both driver and horse are a bit frozen."
Drivers and organizers hope the concept will bring audiences back to the race track during the cold winter months and attract new audiences to the sport.
Harness racing is popular in Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand, but mostly on traditional tracks, rather than snow and ice. It's thought to date back to the 18th century.
"It's challenging to have new audiences in the racing events. I think we are living in challenging times as there are not so much of new audiences and hobbyists," says Joki.
"We need to be different. Like the basic racing every night, every day, that doesn't cut it anymore," says Nisula.
"You have to do something different. Get something new for the tourists and the folk from the city. They want to see something different. And today, we hope we can offer that."
And that's a trophy the whole sport wants to win.
