2019 Airmarine Cup hosts Malaysia claimed third place after beating Afghanistan 2-1 on Saturday in Kuala Lumpur.
In heavy rain, Afghanistan took the lead shortly after the half-hour mark as Faysal Shayesteh fired home a long-range shot.
Malaysia equalised a minute before the half-time interval as Faiz Nasir also found the net from distance.
The Malaysians applied more pressure in the second period but it took an 84th-minute own goal from Afghanistan defender Abassin Alikhil to settle the contest.
The final between Singapore and Oman was due to take place later on Saturday.
