2. Journalist
3. SOUNDBITE (English) Doris Wagner; former nun, sexual abuse survivor and former member of The Spiritual Family The Work (a religious community):
"When I was raped in 2008 by a priest, I thought I was the only nun to whom that had ever happened, and I kept thinking that for years, until I found some articles that had appeared already in 2001 and in those articles, there were horrible cases of sexual abuse on nuns including rape, including forced abortions, including infections with HIV and even death."
4. Journalist
5. SOUNDBITE (English) Barbara Dorris; sexual abuse survivor, former Executive Director SNAP (Survivor Network of those Abused by Priests):
"My opinion would be obvious: this is for show it's PR, it's a stall. It's been 17 years. How many more policies do you think they can create. Most of us were born knowing it was wrong to sexually assault another human being, and they're going to hold a conference and discuss it again. That's just ridiculous. They already know they are choosing not to act."
6. Wide of press conference
7. SOUNDBITE (English) Virginia Saldanha, Secretary of the Indian Women Theologians Forum & Ecclesia of Women in Asia: "Is consensual sex possible between two persons of unequal power: no. In a multi-religious country like India is, the priest has a respectable standing in society and is the face of the church. Speaking out against a priest spoils the name of the church in society we're told. Since Christians are a minority in India, we are careful to protect the good name of the church. All these factors influence the silence around sexual abuse of women and even children."

9.  SOUNDBITE (English) Virginia Saldanha, Secretary of the Indian Women Theologians Forum & Ecclesia of Women in Asia: "I too do not have much hope from this meeting and we are already warned by Pope Francis not to have hope. Therefore, I see that it is the people, the people of God, that Vatican too calls us, that have to raise voices, voices that can bring about change."

STORYLINE:
Nuns and religious women on Tuesday addressed the issue of sex abuse by priests in a meeting with the Foreign Press Association in Rome.
Barbara Dorris, a survivor of priest sexual abuse and the former Executive Director SNAP (Survivor Network of those Abused by Priests) called Pope Francis' sex abuse summit a PR stunt.
The four-day summit aims at preventing clergy sexual abuse, a high-stakes meeting designed to impress on Catholic bishops around the world that the problem is global and that there are consequences if they cover it up.
Meanwhile, Catholic religious orders from around the world apologised Tuesday for having failed to respond when their priests raped children, acknowledging that their family-like communities blinded them to sexual abuse and led to misplaced loyalties, denial and cover-ups.
The two umbrella organisations representing the world's religious orders issued a joint statement ahead of the sex abuse prevention summit, which opens Thursday.
They vowed to implement accountability measures going forward to ensure that cover-ups by religious superiors end and that children are always safe in the presence of clergy.
