టోక్యో ఒలింపిక్స్లో సోమవారం జరిగిన హాకీ క్వార్టర్స్లో భారత మహిళల జట్టు.. ప్రపంచ నంబరు.2 జట్టైన ఆస్ట్రేలియాపై 1-0 తేడాతో గెలుపొంది.. సెమీఫైనల్కు చేరింది. విశ్వక్రీడల్లో భారత మహిళా హకీ జట్టు సెమీఫైనల్కు చేరడం ఇదే తొలిసారి. 1980 మాస్కోలో జరిగిన విశ్వక్రీడల్లో అత్యుత్తమ ప్రదర్శన చేసి నాలుగో స్థానంలో నిలిచింది. ఇన్నేళ్ల తర్వాత మెగాక్రీడల్లో మళ్లీ ఆ స్థాయిలో ప్రదర్శన చేయడం విశేషం. దీంతో సామాన్యుల నుంచి ప్రముఖుల వరకు హాకీ జట్టుపై ప్రశంసలు కురిపిస్తున్నారు. సామాజిక మాధ్యమాల ద్వారా తమకున్న అభిమానాన్ని చాటుకుంటున్నారు. పొగడ్తలతో ముంచెత్తుతున్నారు.
