ప్రస్తుతం ఇంగ్లీష్ జట్టుకు ఫీల్డింగ్ కోచ్గా ఉన్న పాల్ కాలింగ్వుడ్.. శనివారం జరిగిన ఆస్ట్రేలియా-ఇంగ్లండ్.. ప్రపంచకప్ వార్మప్ మ్యాచ్లో ఆటగాడిగా కనిపించాడు. జట్టులోని కొందరు ప్రధాన ఆటగాళ్లకు గాయలు కావడమే ఇందుకు కారణం.

ఇంగ్లాండ్ మాజీ క్రికెటర్, ప్రస్తుతం జట్టుకు ఫీల్డింగ్ కోచ్గా ఉన్న పాల్ కాలింగ్వుడ్ మైదానంలో ఆటగాడిగా కనిపించి ఆశ్చర్యపరిచాడు. శనివారం ఆస్ట్రేలియాతో జరిగిన ప్రాక్టీసు మ్యాచ్లో మార్క్ వుడ్, జోఫ్రా ఆర్చర్లు గాయాల బారిన పడటం వల్ల అతడు ఆడాల్సి వచ్చింది.

పాల్ కాలింగ్వుడ్

ఆస్ట్రేలియాతో వార్మప్ మ్యాచ్లో ప్రపంచకప్ జెర్సీ ధరించి కనిపించాడు కాలింగ్వుడ్. ఈ మ్యాచ్కు జో రూట్ విశ్రాంతి తీసుకున్నాడు. గాయం కారణంగా కెప్టెన్ మోర్గాన్ ఆడలేదు. భుజం నొప్పితో స్పిన్నర్ రషీద్ అందుబాటులో లేడు. ఇంతమంది గైర్హాజరుతో తప్పని పరిస్థితుల్లో కాలింగ్వుడ్ ఫీల్డింగ్ చేయాల్సి వచ్చింది. ప్రపంచకప్ ఫేవరెట్లలో ఒకటైన ఇంగ్లాండ్ జట్టులోని ఆటగాళ్లు గాాయాల బారిన పడటం ఆ జట్టు మేనేజ్మెంట్ను కలవరపరిచే అంశమే.

ఇంగ్లాండ్ తరఫున 197 అంతర్జాతీయ వన్డే మ్యాచ్లు ఆడాడు కాలింగ్వుడ్. 5 వేల పరుగులతో పాటు 111 వికెట్లు తన ఖాతాలో వేసుకున్నాడు. 11 టెస్టులు, 36 టీ20ల్లోనూ పాల్గొన్నాడు. 2010లో టీ20 వరల్డ్కప్ గెలిచిన ఇంగ్లాండ్ జట్టుకు సారథిగా ఉన్నాడు.

Caputova: "I think this election is important for the European Union because we stand at a crossroad. Is the EU going to be stronger and more integrated or is the process of weakening to begin? In this respect, I think that we're at a crossroad."

STORYLINE:
Slovakia's first female president Zuzana Caputova cast her vote for the European Parliament elections in the town of Pezinok Saturday morning.
The 45-year-old liberal environmental activist said she hopes for a high voter turnout in this EU election so "we won't be the tail".
In 2014's European Parliament elections, Slovakia had the lowest voter turnout of all member countries at 13 %.
Official results will be announced after the last polling station in the EU closes late Sunday.
