బౌల్ట్ రికార్డు: టెస్టుల్లో 250 వికెట్లు
కొలంబో వేదికగా శ్రీలంకతో జరుగుతోన్న రెండో టెస్టులో న్యూజిలాండ్ బౌలర్ ట్రెంట్ బౌల్ట్ 250వ వికెట్ను ఖాతాలో వేసుకున్నాడు. వేగంగా ఈ ఘనత అందుకున్న రెండో కివీస్ బౌలర్గా రికార్డు సాధించాడు.

శ్రీలంకతో జరుగుతోన్న రెండో టెస్టులో న్యూజిలాండ్ బౌలర్ ట్రెంట్ బౌల్ట్ అరుదైన రికార్డు సాధించాడు. కొలంబో వేదికగా జరుగుతోన్న ఈ మ్యాచ్లో 250వ వికెట్ను ఖాతాలో వేసుకున్నాడు. వేగంగా ఈ ఘనత అందుకున్న రెండో కివీస్ బౌలర్గా రికార్డు సృష్టించాడు. 64 టెస్టుల్లో 250 వికెట్లు తీశాడు.
ఓవర్నైట్ స్కోరు 93/3తో శుక్రవారం బరిలోకి దిగిన శ్రీలంకను ఆరంభంలోనే దెబ్బతీశాడు బౌల్ట్. ఆంజెలో మ్యాథ్యూస్ను ఔట్ చేసి 250వ వికెట్ను తన ఖాతాలో వేసుకున్నాడు. 245 వికెట్లతో సౌథి బౌల్ట్కు దగ్గరలో ఉన్నాడు.
బౌల్ట్ కంటే ముందు 1985లో సర్ రిచర్డ్ హాడ్లీ 53 టెస్టుల్లో 250 వికెట్లు తీశాడు. అత్యధిక వికెట్లు తీసిన కివీస్ బౌలర్లలో బౌల్ట్ మూడో స్థానంలో ఉన్నాడు. హాడ్లీ 431, డేనియల్ వెటోరీ 361 వికెట్లతో అతడి కంటే ముందున్నారు.
ప్రస్తుతం రెండో రోజు ఆట ముగిసే సమయానికి శ్రీలంక 6 వికెట్లు నష్టపోయి 144 పరుగులు చేసింది. కరుణరత్నే(65) అర్ధశతకంతో రాణించగా.. కుశాల్ మెండీస్(32) ఫర్వాలేదనిపంచాడు. ప్రస్తుతం క్రీజులో ధనంజయ డిసిల్వా(32), దిల్రువా పెరీరా(5) ఉన్నారు. బౌల్ట్, సౌథి చెరో రెండు వికెట్లతో ఆకట్టుకున్నారు.

Reporter: "Your work is known for its social commentary, for its political aspects, where does that come from?"
Kentridge: "I think it comes from living in South Africa, where even if you think you're doing personal work, divorced from them, you suddenly discover that the outside world has come into the studio in shapes and infects and reflects the work. So that, without thinking of myself as a political artist, there is a lot of politics that comes into the, sometimes I discover that after the event rather in advance."

LEADIN:
Evocative videos, graphic tapestries, charcoal drawings, woodcut prints, sculptures and immersive sound installations are combining in the largest single show by South African artist William Kentridge.
The exhibit, at Cape Town's Zeitz Museum of Contemporary African Art, explores themes including South Africa's history.
STORYLINE:
"Why Should I Hesitate: Putting Drawings to Work," which opens Sunday, draws its title from the words of an African conscripted to fight in the First World War.
He was faced with a difficult choice: risk death in the war, or refuse to serve and face persecution by the colonial regime.
Kentridge, the son of anti-apartheid lawyer Sydney Kentridge, who represented Nelson Mandela, told The Associated Press social and political commentary have inspired his work.
"I think it comes from living in South Africa, where even if you think you're doing personal work, divorced from them, you suddenly discover that the outside world has come into the studio in shapes and infects, and reflects the work," he says.
"So, without thinking of myself as a political artist, there is a lot of politics that comes into the, sometimes I discover that after the event rather in advance."
The show starts with Kentridge's early charcoal drawings from the 1970s and moves to his etchings, large graphics and videos, evoking the tensions of South Africa's violent struggle against apartheid, the system of racial discrimination that ended in 1994.
Wide-screen video and sound installations take the viewer through dream-like journeys in history and provoke questions about the present and the future.
"Really, this exhibition holds up a mirror to events going on today by focusing very mightily and heavily on events that have gone before now," says curator Azu Nwagbogu.
According to Kentridge working to mount such an expansive show of his work, including 50 percent of his video installations and 60 percent of his sculptures, made him think about the historic sweep of changes in South Africa.
The exhibit, despite being hosted at two locations, fills several floors of the Museum of Contemporary African Art.
The dizzying amount of work on show is interspersed with rooms designed for reflection, such as a library, a workshop showing how Kentridge's prints are produced and the tapestry room which has seating to contemplate the fabrics mounted on the walls. There is also an area for children.
An exhibition of Kentridge's sculptures, from the small to the monumental are also displayed at the Norval Foundation gallery set among Cape Town's vineyards in Steenburg.
Kentridge became internationally prominent with shows at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Louvre in Paris.
He has also designed productions for the Metropolitan Opera in New York, La Scala in Milan and the English National Opera in London.
"The Head & the Load," described as a processional opera about the paradoxical participation of Africans in World War I, was produced in London and New York in 2018.
"Why Should I Hesitate: Putting Drawings to Work" opens Sunday and will run till 23 March 2020.
