Former India cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi Dies : భారత్ క్రికెట్ దిగ్గజం, మాజీ కెప్టన్ బిషన్ సింగ్ బేడీ(77) కన్నుమూశారు. అనారోగ్య సమస్యల కారణంగా ఆయన సోమవారం తుదిశ్వాస విడిచారు. బిషన్ సింగ్ బేడీ భారత్ తరపున 1966 నుంచి 1979 వరకు లెఫ్ట్ ఆర్మ్ అర్థోడాక్స్ బౌలర్ ఆడారు. కొన్ని మ్యాచ్లకు భారత్ జట్టుకు సారథ్యం వహించారు. భారత్ క్రికెట్ చరిత్రలోనే అత్యుత్తమ స్పిన్నర్లలో ఒకరిగా తనదైన ముద్ర వేశారు. ఎరపల్లి ప్రసన్న, ఎస్. వెంకట రాఘవన్, బీఎస్ చంద్రశేఖర్లతో కలిసి భారత్ తొలి వన్డే విజయంలో కీలక పాత్ర పోషించారు.
1946 సెప్టెంబర్ 25న జన్మించిన బిషన్ సింగ్ బేడీ తన 15వ ఏట క్రికెట్లోకి అడుగు పెట్టారు. 67 టెస్టు మ్యాచ్ల్లో 266 వికెట్లు తీశారు. 22 టెస్ట్ మ్యాచ్లకు కెప్టెన్గా వ్యవహరించారు. ఆయన క్రికెట్కు చేసిన సేవలకు 1970 లో కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం పద్మశ్రీ పురస్కారంతో సత్కరించింది. 2004లో సీకే నాయుడు లైఫ్ టైం అచీవ్మెంట్ అవార్డును కూడా అందుకున్నారు. అంతర్జాతీయ క్రికెట్కు రిటైర్మెంట్ ప్రకటించిన తరువాత ఆయన చాలా మంది క్రికెటర్లకు కోచ్గా, మెంటర్గా పనిచేశారు. ఆ తరవాత కొంతకాలం వ్యాఖ్యాతగానూ తన సేవలు అందించారు. మణిందర్ సింగ్, మురళీ కార్తిక్ వంటి అనేక మంది ప్రతిభావంతులైన స్పిన్నర్లకు భారత క్రికెట్కు పరిచయం చేసిన ఘనత ఆయనది. 1990 తర్వాత బీసీసీఐ ఛీప్‌ సెలక్టర్‌గా కూడా పనిచేశారు.
కాగా, ఆయన మృతి పట్ల పలువురు ప్రముఖులు, రాజకీయ నాయకులు, క్రికెటర్లు సంతాపం తెలియజేస్తున్నారు. ప్రధాన మంత్రి నరేంద్ర మోదీ, కేంద్ర హోంశాఖ మంత్రి అమిత్ షా, కేంద్రా క్రీడా మంత్రి అనురాగ్ ఠాకూర్, పశ్చిమ బంగా సీఎం మమతా బెనర్జీ ఇలా ప్రముఖులు ఆయనకు ఎక్స్(ట్వీట్టర్) వేదికగా సంతాపాన్ని తెలియజేశారు. క్రికెట్ దిగ్గజాల్లో ఒకరైనా బిషన్ సింగ్ బేడీని కొల్పోవడటం బాధకరమైన విషయం అని అన్నారు. తన బౌలింగ్తో ఎన్నో చిరస్మరణీయ విజయాలను అందించారని గుర్తుచేసుకున్నారు.
