STORYLINE:
Punishing Santa Ana winds that pushed fires into Los Angeles-area neighbourhoods, burning six homes, are expected to last through Friday.
The wind-whipped blazes broke out Thursday in the Santa Clarita area.
One remains uncontained, and authorities have not determined its cause. As many as 50,000 people are under evacuation orders.
Los Angeles County Fire Chief Daryl Osby said strong winds are expected overnight and on Friday morning, and that firefighting efforts will continue through the night.
