1. 00:00 SOUNDBITE (English): Stefanos Tsitsipas, ATP Finals men's singles champion:
(About how he believes he will win a Grand Slam soon)
"I feel like my game is getting better over time, and I believe I am really close on being crowned a Grand Slam champion. I know these are strong words that I say, but I do feel like I belong to be there and I am competing against one of the best players in the world, and the amount of effort and the amount of work I put in every day deserves to have an outcome like this."
2. 00:34 SOUNDBITE (English): Stefanos Tsitsipas, ATP Finals men's singles champion:
(About his ATP Finals victory over Dominic Thiem)
"I am really excited. Firstly, I was excited to be part of the ATP Finals experience. For me, it was already a big thing. Now that I am a champion, I don't know how to explain it. I don't, I honestly don't feel anything because there are too many emotions to feel something. So it's 'horrific' in a way to be holding this trophy. Once I remember myself watching this event on TV and thinking like, well, these guys have done an insane year to be playing here, and now I am in a position where I am the champion. So it feels awesome."
3. 01:16 SOUNDBITE (English): Stefanos Tsitsipas, ATP Finals men's singles champion:
(Reflecting on how he nearly lost his life while swimming during a Futures Tournament in 2016)
"You can think of it this way - I haven't been thinking about it too much. I was very close to losing my life that day, but it did have a positive outcome in my life, and I am grateful to any God up there that saved me - that gave me the opportunity to live and to be in the place I am right now. Winning titles, being one of the best players in the world, representing my country in tennis at its highest level. It kind of wakes you up when you have experiences like this, as you said."
4. 02:04 SOUNDBITE (English): Stefanos Tsitsipas, ATP Finals men's singles champion:
(About how to break the Grand Slam dominance of the 'big three' - Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic)
"The thing that we have the 'big three' (Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic) dominating the Grand Slams in the last couple of years, makes it really difficult for us because someone needs to get the job done in order to defeat them in the early rounds, because once they get deep into a tournament, they tend - as we saw over the years - to get better and play better, feel better. So, for me, that is a really difficult task to do. For players to be able to beat them in these Grand Slams because it's a best-of-five (sets) format and this gives them more chances to stay in the match. It's not a best-of-three (sets) thing. If things were best-of-three, it would have been much more different when it comes to Grand Slam champions over the years. So that is an issue because they have been sharing how many Grand Slams? I don't know, 60 something. And, for us, the young guys, it is all about time. I don't know. We either have to beat them or wait for them (to retire)."
5. 03:10 SOUNDBITE (English): Dominic Thiem, ATP Finals men's singles runner-up:
(About his ATP Finals defeat to Stefanos Tsitsipas)
"He (Stefanos Tsitsipas) played great today. He played great throughout the whole tournament. He is the champion and he deserves it 100 per cent. And, I think also that he is great for tennis, because he has a very attractive game style - one-handed backhand, comes in a lot, very beautiful technique as well, so it is great that he is up on the top, it's great that he is going to fight for the big titles in the future, I am 100 per cent sure of that. And I am also very sure of the fact that I can challenge him in every single match we are going to play, and as I said on the court and as I said in Beijing, I hope or I really hope that we are going to have a lot big matches coming - the two of us - and then of course also me and the other young guys in the next years."
