అంతరిక్షంలో వాహననౌక​ నుంచి బయటకు వచ్చి నడవడం సాహసోపేతం. స్పేస్​వాక్​ లాంటివి మనం సినిమాల్లో చూసుంటాం. కానీ దాన్ని నిజం చేయబోతున్నారు ఇద్దరు మహిళా వ్యోమగాములు.

నాసాకు చెందిన నలుగురు మహిళల బృందం అంతరిక్షంలో బృహత్తర కార్యక్రమంలో ప్రధాన పాత్ర పోషిస్తున్నారు. ఇద్దరు వ్యోమగాములు అన్నే మెక్లెయిన్​, క్రిస్టినా కోచ్​లు అంతరిక్షంలో నడవనున్నారు. ఈ నెల 29న అంతర్జాతీయ పరిశోధనా కేంద్రం నుంచి బయటకు వెళ్లి ఓ కృత్రిమ ఉపగ్రహాన్ని రిపేరు చేయనున్నారు.

చరిత్రలో తొలిసారి

అంతరిక్షంలో నడక వ్యోమగాములకు సాధారణ విషయం. ఇలాంటివి అంతరిక్ష పరిశోధనా కేంద్రం వద్ద ఎప్పుడూ జరుగుతూనే ఉంటాయి. అయితే స్పేస్​లో పనిచేసే 500 మందిలో 11 శాతం మాత్రమే మహిళలు ఉంటారు. ఎప్పుడు స్పేస్ వాక్​ జరిగినా కేవలం పురుషులు, లేకుంటే పురుషులు-మహిళలు బృందంగా వెళ్తుంటారు. తొలిసారి మహిళలు మాత్రమే అంతరిక్షంలో ప్రయాణించనున్నారు.
