కేంద్రమంత్రి ఉమా భారతికి భారతీయ జనతా పార్టీ అగ్రనాయకత్వంలో చోటు దక్కింది. ఆమెను భాజపా జాతీయ ఉపాధ్యక్షురాలిగా నియమిస్తూ పార్టీ అధిష్టానం నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంది. ఈ లోక్సభ ఎన్నికల బరి నుంచి తప్పుకుంటున్నట్లు ఇంతకుముందే ప్రకటించారు ఉమా భారతి.

కేంద్ర నీటి వనరులు, నదుల అభివృద్ధి మంత్రి ఉమాభారతికి భారతీయ జనతా పార్టీలో ఉన్నత పదవి దక్కింది. ఆమెను భాజపా జాతీయ ఉపాధ్యక్షురాలిగా నియమిస్తున్నట్లు పార్టీ ప్రకటించింది. ఈ లోక్సభ ఎన్నికల్లో పోటీ చేయనని ఇప్పటికే ప్రకటించారు ఉమాభారతి. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో భాజపా అధిష్టానం ఆమెకు ఈ బాధ్యతలు అప్పగించింది.

ప్రస్తుతం ఉత్తరప్రదేశ్లోని ఝాన్సీ లోక్సభ స్థానానికి ప్రాతినిధ్యం వహిస్తున్నారు ఉమాభారతి. హిందుత్వ నాయకురాలైన ఆమె 18 నెలలు తీర్థయాత్రలకు వెళ్లాలని కోరుకుంటున్నట్లు పేర్కొన్నారు.

"There are possibilities of bringing back the remains of Prince Alemayehu. For so long, there has been debates and arguments on how we should identify Prince Alemayehu's remains from the other remains. But technology allows. Now, we have part remains of his father. We can even genetically define, so we can engage in our arguments with technology. I think this process is an icebreaker in more elaborating our engagements with the British."

STORYLINE:
Two locks of hair belonging to a widely revered Ethiopian emperor have been repatriated from the UK after a request from Addis Ababa, as more countries seek to reclaim heritage they say was taken decades, even centuries, ago.
Ethiopian authorities on Friday celebrated in Addis Ababa the return of Emperor Tewodros' hair in a black leather box.
The remains had been returned by staff at the British National Army Museum to Ethiopia's minister of culture, tourism and sport on Wednesday.
An outcry erupted last year in Ethiopia over the display of the hair belonging to Emperor Tewodros in an exhibit by the Victoria and Albert Museum on the 1868 British expedition to what was then called Abyssinia.
During that campaign, in which 13,000 troops were deployed to free several British hostages, the emperor killed himself and his fortress was captured and looted.
Ethiopians were appalled, with the government saying it would use "whatever legal and diplomatic instruments" to secure the return of items including an intricate golden crown.
The hair was donated in 1959 by relatives of an artist who painted the emperor on his deathbed, the National Army Museum has said.
The repatriation comes at the end of a yearlong commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the confrontation known as the Battle of Maqdala.
The embassy of Ethiopia in the UK in a statement commended the museum's decision as an "exemplary gesture of goodwill."
Now Ethiopians say they seek the return of the bones of the emperor's son, Prince Alemayehu, who was taken to Britain and died there at age 18.
He was buried at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.
The decision to return the emperor's hair was welcomed by Yonas Desta, director-general of Ethiopia's Authority for Research and Conservation of Cultural Heritage.
Some in Africa expect the momentum to grow in repatriating heritage from institutions overseas.
Experts estimated that up to 90 percent of African art is outside the continent, including statues, thrones and manuscripts.
