1. Car arriving at General Affairs Council
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Simon Coveney, Irish Foreign Minister:
"I think there's a real effort to try to bring structure to Brexit. You know, we've had extraordinary division, really, in the parliament in Westminster. Many of us have been looking on. We know many of the personalities involved. This has been a very, very difficult and very divisive debate across Britain and of course within the parliament and that is why I and many others have welcomed the new approach which is the two main parties reaching out to each other, to try to find a majority position, middle ground position, that can allow us all to move forward in a way that's managed and controlled so that we don't face the chaos of a no deal Brexit, which I think everybody loses in, in terms of should that be allowed to happen. So you know I think that that EU leaders this week are open to an extension, but they certainly want to see a plan to go with that extension, so that everybody knows that the time is being used to try to conclude the first phase of Brexit which requires the ratification of the withdrawal agreement and if necessary changes to the future relationship declaration."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Simon Coveney, Irish Foreign Minister:
"Everybody loses in a no deal scenario. A no deal in my view would be an extraordinary failure of politics and we need to ensure that that doesn't happen. But of course there needs to be a real plan to go with a request for an extension that's credible, in order for this extension to be agreed over the next few days. And that's, I think what's likely to happen."
5. SOUNDBITE (English) Stef Blok, Dutch Foreign Minister:
"So until now we only have to request for an extension and we are hoping for a specific plan from the UK side to avoid this hard Brexit."
(Q) When is the deadline for Theresa May to come forward with that plan?
"Of course time is pressing and we should avoid a hard Brexit on the 12th of April and here in the European side we will work hard on it."

STORYLINE:
Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney said on Tuesday that it would be an extraordinary failure of politics if the UK left without a Brexit deal on April 12.
The comments come as British Prime Minister Theresa May and opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn work on a compromise Brexit agreement before European Union leaders decide on Wednesday whether to grant a second extension to the UK's departure.
Coveney said that he beleives EU member states are open to an extension beyond Friday if the cross-party talks are successful.
"There needs to be a real plan to go with a request for an extension that's credible, in order for this extension to be agreed over the next few days," Coveney said.
Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Blok echoed Coveney's sentiments saying that member states were hoping for a "specific plan" from the UK to avoid a hard Brexit.
