9. SOUNDBITE (English) Ian Sherr, Editor at Large, CNET:
"Streaming is definitely something that's going to be an interesting conversation this year and part of the reason is that there's this sense that the internet has gotten fast enough, particularly with stuff like 5G coming around the corner, the new wireless technology, as well as just how fast all of our internet connections are now, that we can actually do this thing. And streaming, which is basically playing a game the same way that you kind of watch a movie from Netflix, promises to really revolutionise this technology. You get to play high-end games without having to have an expensive box next to your TV and that's kind of cool."

"I think Microsoft has a really, really excellent chance to blow out the show this year in a good way. They have the stage, it's set just for them. Sony is not here, and they have a new console on the way. It would be awesome to see what that new console is, learn a little bit more about the specifications of that product. And there's rumours about a streaming device of some sort that they're going to be bringing to the market with Google Stadia on the market, they might be going head to head with each other."

16. SOUNDBITE (English) Ian Sherr, Editor at Large, CNET:
"It's a game called Final Fantasy 7 and if you've heard that before, that's because it's a 20-year-old game, but it's being remade and it actually is going to be this huge event because it's one of the most popular games ever made and it's going to be really interesting to see when they show it off what they're talking about, where it's going, it's going to be very fascinating."

18. SOUNDBITE (English) Destin Legarie, Senior Features Producer, IGN:
"Cyberpunk stole the show last year, it's here again at E3 this year. It's going to be interesting to see if we get hands-on time or if we just get to see it again. What they're going to show that's different. That game looks absolutely excellent, very, very adult-themed, very violent, very futuristic, it's all about modifying your body with electronics to basically be a robotic version of yourself, but the best robotic version of yourself you can possibly be."

25. SOUNDBITE (English) Destin Legarie, Senior Features Producer, IGN:
"E3 opened itself to the public a few years back. And I don't know if that has necessarily worked to their advantage because now it's become almost like a trade show. I think they might adjust their strategy in the coming years. People still like to go to an event, PAX still does really, really well, Gamescom still has huge attendance numbers and it's gonna be interesting to see how E3 evolves. Are their days numbered? I don't know, I think there's too much money on the table to say that."

LEADIN:
Could this be game over for traditional video game consoles? Streaming services like Google's soon-to-be-launched Stadia are set to star at Los Angeles' annual E3 expo.
And some big industry giants won't be in attendance, including Sony PlayStation, which announced they'd be skipping the 2019 edition last year.
STORYLINE:
Almost 70,000 games fans are expected to crowd the Los Angeles Convention Center for the annual E3 expo, a highlight on the video game calendar.
Talk of Netflix-style video game streaming services looks likely to dominate proceedings, particularly after Google said Thursday it would kick off its Stadia streaming service in November.
Much like movies and music, the traditional video game industry has been shifting from physical hardware and games to digital downloads and streaming.
Stadia is Google's attempt to make traditional video game consoles such as the Xbox and PlayStation obsolete.
Games are stored online, and players can pick up where they left off on traditional computers with Google's Chrome browsers and Chromebooks running Chrome OS.
"You get to play high-end games without having to have an expensive box next to your TV and that's kind of cool," says Ian Sherr from CNET.
Microsoft Xbox is expected share news on its next games console. It's also expected to push its subscription streaming service, called Game Pass.
"I think Microsoft has a really, really excellent chance to blow out the show this year in a good way," says Destin Legarie from IGN.
"They have the stage, it's set just for them. Sony is not here, and they have a new console on the way. It would be awesome to see what that new console is, learn a little bit more about the specifications of that product."
One of the most talked about games at this year's E3 will be an old one - more than 20 years old. It's a remake of Square Unix's "Final Fantasy VII", which first debuted in 1997.
"It's one of the most popular games ever made and it's going to be really interesting to see when they show it off what they're talking about, where it's going, it's going to be very fascinating," says Sherr.
Another new title competing for gamers' attentions will be the eagerly anticipated "Cyberpunk 2077" by Poland-based developer CD Projekt RED.
Announced back in May 2012, it's based on a 1988 tabletop game.
"That game looks absolutely excellent, very, very adult-themed, very violent, very futuristic, it's all about modifying your body with electronics to basically be a robotic version of yourself, but the best robotic version of yourself you can possibly be," says Legarie.
This year's E3 will be without some of the gaming industry's major players.
Sony announced last year it would be skipping the 2019 event, Xbox will be staging a nearby fan fest at the Microsoft Theater, publisher Electronic Arts will be staging its own fan-focused EA Play event in Hollywood.
"E3 opened itself to the public a few years back. And I don't know if that has necessarily worked to their advantage because now it's become almost like a trade show. I think they might adjust their strategy in the coming years," says Legarie.
"Are their days numbered? I don't know, I think there's too much money on the table to say that."
The U.S. video game industry raked in revenue of $43.4 billion in 2018, up 18 percent from 2017, according to research firm NPD Group.
The Electric Entertainment Expo, now simply known as 'E3', opens June 11-13, with media previews beginning June 8.
