"Well, back then I was letting people wondering what was going on with Dennis Rodman. Because you only had TV then. You didn't have Instagram, social media stuff like that - go on the phone. Back then, people was wondering what does he do every day because he's so interesting? He was doing this, cutting his hair, doing that, dating these women. Nobody knew then. And all of a sudden I came on this idea in 1996, '97 - I said wow, I'm going to put cameras in my house. I put cameras in every room, even the bathroom, and stuff like. And I had parties seven days a week and I came on this show called 'Rodman TV.' And one day - I just doing this for fun, just for me. I don't know it was up on these computers. So one day I at home throwing a party. And at 5 o'clock in the morning, I got a phone call from Howard Stern. And Howard Stern said, 'Dennis, what are you doing right now? I'm calling from my show.' I was just like, 'Uh, I was trying to get some sleep.' He said no Dennis, you're not doing that. I said, what do you think I'm doing? He said, you're with Carmen Electra in the bed. I said, how do you know that? I looked up, I said f***. I got cameras here. Because I had cameras in my house. And and I was the first guy to do that. Put cameras in our house and videotape everything that's going on 24/7."

"You know I'm pretty much an old movies guy - an old movies guy. I think that pop culture today is exciting. It reminds me of the movement of the hippies in the '60s - how things in the '60s came - from the '50s to '60s they just went - they switched completely. I think now the youth of America, the pop culture has really swayed - there's like the Jordache, the Calvin Klein era - everyone's like they're all in. Now it's like every year there's a different movement - there's something different going on in the world now. Back then, it was more every decade. Now it's more every day, every minute, every hour there's something different. And we're not sticking to anything in the world, we're not conscious of what's going on in the world right now. Because everyone wants to like this every second, everyone wants to do this every minute, and we are not focused on one main thing to keep it relevant. Everything is like, oh that's old. I forgot. I saw that 15 minutes ago. That kind of s***. People are not trying to keep anything relevant. I think the only thing they're trying to keep relevant is them. But they have to sit there and work their asses off to keep them relevant - because there's somebody behind them trying to push them off the stool. So OK great, so that don't even work. But I think we're going to learn a big hard lesson with a lot of the youth today because they're going to grow up so fast. But the pop culture won't let them. They won't let them grow up. They want them to sit there and get wild and just get loose."

"But it's funny because people don't really realize I would say stuff like that back then. I said, we were so damn close we could have had sex with each other. That's how close we were. Like wow. I was saying things back then that was so uncommon that I didn't realize what I was saying. It was just something to say. Like the quote, the statement I said about Bird. I said Bird, if he was a black guy, he would be just a regular player. But he's white. And I just made that comment and Isaiah saved my ass. But it's just funny though - some of the things you going to get from this documentary, I said years ago, and it's so relevant now 20 years later. So wow this guy is like way of his time and he didn't realize. I didn't realize it then but I realized halfway through the process."

STORYLINE:
DENNIS RODMAN TALKS 'RODMAN TV,' POP CULTURE
Dennis Rodman says he was an innovator when it came to reality TV.
The eccentric former NBA star hosted "The Rodman World Tour" in 1996 on MTV, and also set up cameras in his house at one point to live-stream video - before it was a thing.
"Well, back then I was letting people wondering what was going on with Dennis Rodman. Because you only had TV then. You didn't have Instagram, social media stuff like that - go on the phone. Back then, people was wondering what does he do every day because he's so interesting?" Rodman said in an interview "He was doing this, cutting his hair, doing that, dating these women. Nobody knew then. And all of a sudden I came on this idea in 1996, '97 - I said wow, I'm going to put cameras in my house. I put cameras in every room, even the bathroom, and stuff like. Rodman is the subject of a new "30 for 30" ESPN documentary that examines his life in and out of the spotlight. "Dennis Rodman: For Better or Worse," directed by Todd Kapostasy, features narration from actor Jamie Foxx.
Now 58, the former star rebounder and defender for the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls says he thinks today's pop culture is moving too fast.
"You know I'm pretty much an old movies guy - an old movies guy. I think that pop culture today is exciting. It reminds me of the movement of the hippies in the '60s - how things in the '60s came - from the '50s to '60s they just went - they switched completely.
