STORYLINE:
Chinese Ministry of Commerce said the eighth round of China-US trade talks created good conditions for the latest negotiations ongoing in Washington, D.C.
Spokesperson Gao Feng said on Thursday that the talks held last week in Beijing "made new progress."
The ninth round of talks aimed to narrow differences in an ongoing trade war that has deepened uncertainty for businesses and investors.
China had revoked licenses of two major Canadian exporters over safety concerns, which is seen as retaliation for Canada's arrest of the daughter of Huawei's founder.
Gao confirmed China has not suspended the license of a third Canadian canola seeds exporter.
