STORYLINE:
Students from several universities in Caracas began a vigil on Tuesday night to mark Youth Day and to honour of those killed during anti-government marches in 2014 and 2017.
The vigil was held in the Plaza Bolivar de Chacao on the eastern side of Caracas.
People held posters with slogans reading, "No more dead" and pictures of those imprisoned or killed.
One father whose son was imprisoned during protests said: "I'm at this vigil like all the people that are here, relatives of victims and political prisoners who are unfairly behind bars."
"Those who have been lucky, because there are some who are no longer here," added Jose Manuel Chacin.
Unlike Chacin, Carmen Elena Bracho's son, Miguel Castillo, was killed during protests in 2017.
"I feel there is hope, we hope there is a definite route that, I think, (referring to changes in politics at the moment) is leading us down the right path. The vigil is expected to end on Wednesday.
