చలి తీవ్రత పశ్చిమ మధ్య  అమెరికాను కుదిపేస్తోంది. నదులు, సరస్సుల్లో నీరు గడ్డకట్టుకుపోయింది.

మిన్నెసొటా, విస్​కాన్సిన్​ ప్రాంతాల్లో మైనస్​ 53 డిగ్రీల సెల్సీయస్​లకు ఉష్ణోగ్రత పడిపోయింది. జన జీవనం అస్తవ్యస్తమయింది. రవాణా వ్యవస్థ నిలిచిపోయింది. వేలాది విమాన సర్వీసులు రద్దయ్యాయి.

గడ్డ కట్టుకుపోయిన నదులు

నదులు, సరస్సులు, కాలువలు, మంచి నీటి వనరులు గడ్డకట్టుకుపోయాయి. రోడ్లపై మంచు కుప్పలు తెప్పలుగా పేరుకుపోయింది. ప్రజలు ఇంట్లోనుంచి కాలు బయటపెట్టలేని పరిస్థితి.

ఉష్ణోగ్రతలో స్వల్పంగా మార్పు కారణంగా గడ్డకట్టిన మంచు కరిగి వరదలు సంభవించే ప్రమాదముందని వాతావరణ శాఖ హెచ్చరించింది. ప్రజలు అప్రమత్తంగా ఉండాలని సూచించారు.

A media delegation from Egypt spoke highly of the stability, development, and de-radicalization work in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region after visiting the area.
The group members visited Xinjiang from Jan. 25 to 31 at the invitation of the State Council Information Office and the Embassy of China in Egypt.
After visiting and talking with local residents and students at vocational training centers, the Egyptian journalists noted the "China experience" in effectively combating terrorism and extremism through addressing both the symptoms and root causes.
The group visited a garment factory in Shule County in Kashgar City, which employs more than 200 local people, including Arizgul Nurmemet. Arizgul has been working in the factory for more than a year and makes more than 3,000 yuan (about 445 U.S. dollars) a month.
"Factories have been established in the village so that villagers can find employment besides tending farms," said Maher Maklad, deputy chief editor of Al-Ahram newspaper.
In mosques like the Id Kah Mosque in Kashgar, modern facilities abound, providing water, electricity, and air conditioning. Local clerics told the visitors that their legitimate religious activities have been very well protected.
Vocational training centers provide language, law, and skill courses. They also help eliminate extremism and prevent people with minor criminal records from falling victim to terrorism and extremism.
"Today I interviewed a family, a very happy family. The housewife told me that vocational training has transformed her husband by helping him get rid of old, harmful ideas," said Nermin Khalil, a senior announcer at Nile TV.
Group members were very impressed by people's spiritual outlook at the vocational training centers.
During their staying in Xinjiang, Nile TV filmed a documentary which will air in Egypt, showing Egyptians the real Xinjiang.
"I believe [through our report] people in Egypt and beyond will learn more about Xinjiang instead of the way some Western media portray the region," said Lamiaa Ramadan, a television director at Nile TV.
