ప్రపంచ ఛాంపియన్​షిప్​​: మేరీ కోమ్​ ఖాతాలో కాంస్యం

రష్యా ఉలాన్ ఉద్ వేదికగా జరుగుతోన్న ప్రపంచ బాక్సింగ్ ఛాంపియన్​షిప్​లో భారత మహిళా బాక్సర్​ మేరీ కోమ్ కాంస్య పతకాన్ని గెలుచుకుంది. శనివారం జరిగిన సెమీఫైనల్లో పోరాడి ఓడి బ్రాంజ్​ మెడల్​ సాధించింది.

ప్రపంచ బాక్సింగ్ ఛాంపియన్​షిప్​లో భారత స్టార్ బాక్సర్ మేరీ కోమ్ కాంస్యంతోనే సరిపెట్టుకుంది. ఈ మెగాటోర్నీలో పసిడి ఆశలు కల్పించిన ఆమె... రష్యాలోని ఉలాన్​ ఉద్​ వేదికగా శనివారం జరిగిన సెమీఫైనల్లో ఓటమిపాలైంది. ప్రత్యర్థి బుసెనాజ్​(టర్కీ) చేతిలో 4-1 తేడాతో పరాజయం చెందింది.

51 కేజీల విభాగంలో పోటీ పడిన మేరీ.. తొలిసారి ఈ విభాగంలో కాంస్యం సాధించింది. గతంలో ఈమె 48 కేజీల విభాగంలో పోటీపడేది. వచ్చే ఏడాది జరగబోయే ఒలింపిక్స్​ కోసం తన విభాగం మార్చుకుంది. మ్యాచ్​ అనంతరం రిఫరీ నిర్ణయాన్ని వ్యతిరేకిస్తూ భారత్​ అప్పీల్​ చేసినా... ఫలితం మేరీకి వ్యతిరేకంగానే వచ్చింది.

8వ పతకం..

ప్రపంచ బాక్సింగ్ ఛాంపియన్​షిప్​లో ఇప్పటివరకు 7 పతకాలు (ఆరు స్వర్ణాలు, ఒక రజతం) గెలిచింది మేరీ కోమ్. ఈ తాజా మ్యాచ్​లో 8వ మెడల్ (కాంస్యం) ఖాతాలో వేసుకుంది. ఇవే కాకుండా 2012 లండన్ ఒలింపిక్స్​లో కాంస్యం.. కామన్వెల్త్, ఆసియా క్రీడల్లో స్వర్ణాలు ఆమె ఖాతాలో ఉన్నాయి. ఈ ఏడాది ఇండియా ఓపెన్, ఇండోనేసియాలో జరిగిన ప్రెసిడెన్షియల్​ కప్​లోనూ పసిడి పతకాలు కైవసం చేసుకుంది మేరీ. ప్రపంచ టోర్నీ చరిత్రలోనే 8 పతకాలు సాధించిన బాక్సర్​గా మేరీ నిలిచింది.
