విజయంతో ముగించిన విండీస్.. అఫ్గాన్​ ఓటమి

అఫ్గానిస్థాన్​తో జరిగిన మ్యాచ్​లో వెస్టిండీస్​ 23 పరుగుల తేడాతో గెలిచింది. కరేబియన్​ బౌలర్లు బ్రాత్​వైట్​ 4 వికెట్లు తీయగా.. రోచ్ 3 వికెట్లతో ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. అఫ్గాన్ బ్యాట్స్​మెన్ ఇక్రామ్ (86), రహ్మత్ షా (62) అర్ధశతకాలతో రాణించినప్పటికీ జట్టును గెలిపించలేకపోయారు. ఈ ప్రపంచకప్​లో ఒక్క విజయం కూడా లేకుండానే టోర్నీని ముగించింది అఫ్గానిస్థాన్.

ప్రపంచకప్​లో భాగంగా అఫ్గానిస్థాన్​తో జరిగిన మ్యాచ్​లో వెస్టిండీస్ 23 పరుగుల తేడాతో విజయం సాధించింది. హెడింగ్లే వేదికగా జరిగిన ఈ పోరులో మొదట బ్యాటింగ్ చేసిన విండీస్.. ప్రత్యర్థి ముందు 312 పరుగుల భారీ లక్ష్యాన్ని నిర్దేశించింది. అనంతరం బ్యాటింగ్​కు దిగిన అఫ్గాన్ చివరి వరకు పోరాడి 288 పరుగులకు ఆలౌటైంది. అఫ్గాన్ ఆటగాళ్లలో ఇక్రామ్ అలీ ఖిల్(86), రహ్మత్​ షా(62) అర్ధశతకాలు చేసినప్పటికీ జట్టును గెలిపించలేకపోయారు. విండీస్ బౌలర్లలో బ్రాత్​వైట్​ 4 వికెట్లు తీయగా, కెమర్ రోచ్ 3.. గేల్, థామస్ చెరో వికెట్ తమ ఖాతాలో వేసుకున్నారు.

312 లక్ష్య ఛేదనలో ఆరంభంలోనే కెప్టెన్ గుల్బాదిన్ నైబ్​ వికెట్ కోల్పోయింది అఫ్గాన్. అప్పటికి జట్టు స్కోరు 5 పరుగులే. అనంతరం క్రీజులోకి వచ్చిన ఇక్రామ్ అలీ - రహ్మత్ షా జోడి నిలకడగా ఆడింది. మరో వికెట్ పడకుండా స్కోరు బోర్డును ముందుకు నడిపించింది.

గెలుపుపై ఆశలు రేకెత్తించిన ఇక్రామ్ - రహ్మత్​

ఇక్రామ్ - రహ్మత్ జోడి 133 పరుగుల భాగస్వామ్యం నెలకొల్పింది. ఇద్దరూ అర్ధశతకాలతో చెలరేగి విండీస్ బౌలర్లకు చెమటలు పట్టించారు. చెత్త బంతులను బౌండరీలకు తరలించి అఫ్గాన్ అభిమానుల్లో ఆశలు రేకెత్తించారు. వీరిద్దరూ క్రీజులో ఉన్నంత సేపు అఫ్గాన్ గెలుపుపై ధీమాగా ఉంది. అయితే నిలకడగా ఆడుతున్న రహ్మత్ షాను ఔట్ చేసి ఈ ద్వయాన్ని విడదీశాడు బ్రాత్​వైట్.

అనంతరం క్రీజులోకి వచ్చిన నజీబుల్లా (31) సాయంతో ఇన్నింగ్స్ చక్కదిద్దే ప్రయత్నం చేశాడు ఇక్రామ్ అలీ. వీరిద్దరూ 50 పరుగుల భాగస్వామ్యం నెలకొల్పారు. అయితే 86 పరుగుల వద్ద ఇక్రామ్ అలీ... గేల్ బౌలింగ్​లో ఎల్బీడబ్ల్యూ అయ్యాడు. కాసేపటికే నజీబుల్లా కూడా రనౌట్​గా వెనుదిరిగాడు.

చివర్లో వికెట్లు టపాటపా..

చివర్లో అస్గర్ అఫ్గాన్ ఒంటరి పోరాటం చేశాడు. 32 బంతుల్లో 40 పరుగులు చేసి బ్రాత్​వైట్​ బౌలింగ్​లో​ ఔటయ్యాడు. అనంతరం టెయిలెండర్లు ఒక్కొక్కరిగా పెవిలియన్ బాట పట్టారు. ఇన్నింగ్స్ చివరి బంతికి థామస్​ బౌలింగ్​లో షిర్జాద్ (25) ఔట్​ కావడంతో అప్గాన్ ఆలౌటైంది.

అంతకుముందు బ్యాటింగ్ చేసిన వెస్టిండీస్​ బ్యాట్స్​మెన్​లలో హోప్ (77), లూయిస్ (58), నికోలస్ పూరన్ (58) అర్ధశతకాలతో చెలరేగారు. అఫ్గాన్​ బౌలర్లలో జద్రాన్ 2 వికెట్లు తీయగా.. రషీద్ ఖాన్​, నబీ, షిర్జాద్ తలో వికెట్ తమ ఖాతాలో వేసుకున్నారు.

విజయం కోసం ఆఖరి ఓవర్​ వరకు పోరాడిన అఫ్గాన్ ఈ ప్రపంచకప్​లో గెలుపు రుచిచూడకుండానే తన మజిలీని పూర్తి చేసింది. మరోవైపు 2019 వరల్డ్​కప్​ను విండీస్... విజయంతో ముగించింది. మొత్తంగా రెండు మ్యాచ్​ల్లో గెలిచి పాయింట్ల పట్టికలో కింద నుంచి రెండో స్థానంలో నిలిచింది.

That is not a good example we want to see."

"The committee chair called me to say, 'If you have any idea whether how or where we can relocate our finance committee meeting, we would be happy to discuss.' And I thought, I found that perfectly ridiculous. I mean, what location? The only thing anyone would be thinking of fairly near here is the Convention Center, but then the setting business or legal grounds to hold such meetings, I don't know. But the thing is both (Legislative Council president) Andrew Leung, (Finance Committee chairman) Chan Kin-por have made it clear in the last two days that there will be no more legislative meetings in the next two weeks."

STORYLINE:
Around a dozen members from the Hong Kong Legislative Council Commission headed to the Queensway Government Offices on Thursday to assess the damage following protests earlier this week.
During the protest on Monday, the meeting facilities and security system at the Legislative Council were damaged by the protesters after they broke in the venue.
The building was then closed for security reasons.
It appears that all legislative meetings will be put on hold at least for the next two weeks or until a solution for an alternative venue is found.
"Both (Legislative Council president) Andrew Leung, and (Finance Committee chairman) Chan Kin-por have made it clear in the last two days that there will be no more legislative meetings in the next two weeks," said Claudia Mo, a pro-democracy legislator.
