కటక్​ వేదికగా విండీస్​తో జరుగుతున్న మూడో వన్డేలో టీమిండియా ఓపెనర్​ రోహిత్​ శర్మ ప్రపంచ రికార్డు నెలకొల్పాడు. ఈ మ్యాచ్​లో 9 పరుగుల వద్ద.. శ్రీలంక మాజీ క్రికెటర్​ సనత్​ జయసూర్య 22 ఏళ్ల రికార్డును బ్రేక్​ చేశాడు. ఒక క్యాలెండర్​ ఇయర్​లో అత్యధిక పరుగులు చేసిన ఓపెనర్​గా కొత్త అధ్యాయం లిఖించాడు.

జులైలో జరిగిన వన్డే ప్రపంచకప్‌లో ఐదు శతకాలతో జోరు చూపించిన రోహిత్ శర్మ ఆ తర్వాత టెస్టుల్లో డబుల్ సెంచరీ.. తాజాగా వెస్టిండీస్‌తో వన్డే సిరీస్‌లో శతకం సాధించాడు. ఈరోజు కటక్​లో ఆఖరి వన్డేలో 63 పరుగులు చేసిన హిట్​మ్యాన్​.. ఈ ఏడాది ఇప్పటికే అన్ని ఫార్మాట్లలో కలిపి 2,442 రన్స్​ చేశాడు. ఒక ఏడాదిలో అత్యధిక పరుగులు చేసిన ఓపెనర్‌గా అరుదైన ఘనత సాధించాడు.

శ్రీలంక దిగ్గజ ఓపెనర్ సనత్ జయసూర్య 1997లో అన్ని ఫార్మాట్లలో కలిపి మొత్తం 2,387 పరుగులు చేయగా.. అప్పటి నుంచి ఈ రికార్డ్‌ను ఏ క్రికెటర్ అందుకోలేకపోయాడు. కానీ ఈ ఏడాది కెరీర్‌లోనే బెస్ట్ ఫామ్‌లో కొనసాగుతున్న రోహిత్ శర్మ ఆ రికార్డ్‌ని బ్రేక్ చేశాడు.

ఇప్పటికే అంతర్జాతీయ టీ20ల్లో అత్యధిక పరుగులు చేసిన ఆటగాడిగా విరాట్ కోహ్లీతో కలిసి సంయుక్తంగా నెం.1 స్థానంలో ఉన్నాడు రోహిత్​.

STORYLINE:
Thousands of demonstrators turned out in Hong Kong on Sunday to protest against the treatment of China's Uighur minority.
The crowd gathered in the city's Edinburgh Place square holding signs with the flag of East Turkestan and waving flags in support of Hong Kong independence.
The territory has been in the grip of a pro-democracy movement, which began over an extradition bill seen by opponents as part of increased meddling from Beijing, for the past six months.
Despite the legislation being shelved, protests have morphed to take on wider issues.
China has been accused of a mass crackdown against Uighurs and other predominantly Muslim minorities in its Xinjiang region, with reports of millions being held in heavily secured, prison-like camps.
Chinese diplomats have claimed China holds no political prisoners and insist the centres were only there to provide “vocational” training and save them from religious radicalism.
