వెస్టిండీస్తో జరుగుతోన్న రెండో టెస్టులో తెలుగు ఆటగాడు హనుమ విహారి శతకంతో మెరిశాడు. ఇషాంత్ శర్మ వల్లే ఈ ఘనత సాధించానని తెలిపాడు. సెంచరీ చూసి మా నాన్న గర్విస్తుంటారని అన్నాడు.

హనుమ విహారి.. టీమిండియా జట్టులో సుస్థిర స్థానం సంపాందించుకోవాలని చూస్తున్న తెలుగు ఆటగాడు. ప్రస్తుతం వెస్టిండీస్ పర్యటనలో ఉన్న ఈ క్రికెటర్ తొలి టెస్టులో ఏడు పరుగుల తేడాలో సెంచరీ మిస్సయ్యాడు. కానీ రెండో మ్యాచ్లో శతకం చేసి జట్టు భారీ స్కోర్ సాధించడంలో కీలకపాత్ర పోషించాడు.
తొలి రోజు 42 పరుగులతో నాటౌట్గా నిలిచిన విహారి.. రెండో రోజు ఆచితూచి ఆడుతూ పరుగులు సాధించాడు. జడేజాతో కలిసి 46 పరుగుల భాగస్వామ్యాన్ని నెలకొల్పాడు. అనంతరం పేసర్ ఇషాంత్ శర్మతో కలిసి ఎనిమిదో వికెట్కు 112 పరుగులు జోడించాడు. ఈ క్రమంలో ఇషాంత్ అర్ధసెంచరీని, విహారి సెంచరీని సాధించారు.
"తొలి రోజు 42 పరుగులతో ఉన్నప్పుడు రాత్రి నిద్ర పట్టలేదు. రెండో రోజు ఎలాగైనా భారీ స్కోర్ సాధించాలని అనుకున్నా. మూడంకెల స్కోర్ సాధించినందుకు ఆనందంగా ఉంది. ఇదంతా ఇషాంత్ వల్లే సాధ్యమైంది. అతడు అద్భుతంగా బ్యాటింగ్ చేశాడు. ఇషాంత్ లేకుండా నేను సెంచరీ చేసేవాడిని కాదు."

టెస్టుల్లో తొలి సెంచరీ చేసిన విహారి ఈ సెంచరీ చూసి తన తండ్రి గర్విస్తుంటాడని తెలిపాడు.
"మా నాన్న నాకు 12 ఏళ్లు ఉండగా చనిపోయారు. ఈ సెంచరీని ఆయనకు అంకితమిస్తున్నా. ఈ రోజు ఎంతో భావోద్వేగమైన రోజు. ఈ శతకం చూసి మా నాన్న గర్విస్తుంటారు".

హనుమ విహారి సెంచరీతో టీమిండియా తొలి ఇన్నింగ్స్లో 416 పరుగులకు ఆలౌటైంది. బ్యాటింగ్ ప్రారంభించిన విండీస్ ఆట ముగిసే సమయానికి బుమ్రా ధాటికి 7 వికెట్లకు 87 పరుగుల చేసింది.

Just being in the rally, giving myself a shot to win the points. Just grinding it. You can't do much when he's serving like that.
