ఆల్ ఇంగ్లండ్ ఛాంపియన్షిప్లో భారత క్రీడాకారిణి సింధు తొలి రౌండ్లోనే ఇంటి ముఖం పట్టింది. దక్షిణ కొరియాకు చెందిన సుంగ్ చేతిలో పోరాడి ఓడింది.

బర్మింగ్‌హామ్ వేదికగా ఈరోజు ప్రారంభమైన ఆల్‌ ఇంగ్లండ్‌ బ్యాడ్మింటన్‌ ఛాంపియన్‌షిప్‌‌లో తొలిరోజే భారత్‌కు నిరాశ ఎదురైంది. అంచనాలతో బరిలోకి దిగిన స్టార్ షట్లర్ పీవీ సింధు...తొలి రౌండ్‌లో దక్షిణ కొరియాకు చెందిన సుంగ్ చేతిలో ఓటమి పాలైంది. తొలి సెట్లో 16-21తో ఓటమి పాలైన సింధు, రెండో సెట్ను 22-20తో గెలుచుకుంది. చివరి సెట్లో 17-21 తేడాతో ఓడిపోయి ఛాంపియన్షిప్ నుంచి నిష్క్రమించింది.

గత ఏడాది హాంకాంగ్‌ ఓపెన్‌లోనూ సుంగ్‌ చేతిలోనే ఓడింది సింధు. ఇది సింధుకు వరుసగా రెండో ఓటమి. మొత్తంగా 15 సార్లు ఈ షట్లర్లు ఢీకొనగా.. తెలుగు తేజం ఎనిమిదింట్లో పైచేయి సాధించగా.. ఏడింట్లో సుంగ్ గెలిచింది.

STORYLINE:
UN human rights chief Michelle Bachelet expressed her disappointment with Israel over its "immediate dismissal" of a report on the Gaza violence in 2018 without addressing any of the issues raised.
Speaking in Geneva at the presentation of the 2018 annual report of the Human Rights Council, Bachelet said protests had been met with "deadly, disproportionate force by the Israeli security forces" leading to a "very high toll of killings and injuries".
