ఇండియా ఓపెన్ వరల్డ్ టూర్ సూపర్ 500 టోర్నీలో భారత బ్యాడ్మింటన్ క్రీడాకారులు మెరిశారు. కిదాంబి శ్రీకాంత్, పారుపల్లి కశ్యప్, పీవీ సింధు సెమీస్లో బెర్తులు ఖరారు చేసుకున్నారు.

పురుషుల సింగిల్స్ క్వార్టర్స్లో మాజీ ఛాంపియన్ శ్రీకాంత్ 21-23, 21-11, 21-19 తేడాతో భారత్కే చెందిన సాయిప్రణీత్పై గెలిచాడు. మరో క్వార్టర్ ఫైనల్లో కశ్యప్ 21-16, 21-11తో చైనీస్ తైపీ ఆటగాడు వాంగ్ జువ్పై నెగ్గాడు. నాలుగేళ్ల తర్వాత కశ్యప్ వరల్డ్ టూర్ టోర్నీలో సెమీస్ చేరడం విశేషం. నేడు జరిగే సెమీ ఫైనల్లో హువాంగ్ యుజియాంగ్ (చైనా)తో శ్రీకాంత్, ఆక్సెల్సన్ (డెన్మార్క్)తో కశ్యప్ తలపడనున్నారు.

మహిళల సింగిల్స్ క్వార్టర్స్లో పీవీ సింధు 21-19, 22-20 తేడాతో డెన్మార్క్ క్రీడాకారిణి మియా బ్లిచ్ఫెట్పై విజయం సాధించింది. నేడు జరగనున్న సెమీస్లో బింగ్ జియావో (చైనా)తో సింధు అమీతుమీ తేల్చుకోనుంది.

పురుషుల డబుల్స్ క్వార్టర్ ఫైనల్లో ఇండియాకు చెందిన సుమిత్ రెడ్డి-మనూ ఆత్రి ద్వయం 21-10 21-12తో మరో భారత జోడీ ప్రణవ్ చోప్రా-శివమ్ వర్మను ఓడించి సెమీ ఫైనల్ చేరింది.
