చలనచిత్రం... మూకీతో మొదలై మనసు మైమరిపించే స్థాయికి చేరింది. ఒకప్పుడు హాలీవుడ్ సినిమాలతో పోలుస్తూ మన చిత్రాలూ ఇలా ఉంటే బాగుండు అనుకునేవాళ్లం. ప్రస్తుతం పరిస్థితి మారింది హాలీవుడ్కు ఏ మాత్రం తగ్గకుండా భారీ చిత్రాలను తెరకెక్కిస్తున్నారు మన దర్శకులు. మరి ఆ సినిమాలేంటో చూద్దామా..!
బాహుబలితో తెలుగు సినిమా ఖ్యాతిని ప్రపంచ వ్యాప్తం చేసిన దర్శకుడు రాజమౌళి. ఆయన దర్శకత్వంలో జూనియర్ ఎన్టీఆర్, రామ్చరణ్ కలిసి నటిస్తోన్న చిత్రం 'ఆర్ఆర్ఆర్'. 400 కోట్ల రూపాయల భారీ బడ్జెట్తో రూపొందుతున్న ఈ సినిమా చారిత్రక నేపథ్యంలో తెరకెక్కుతుంది. అల్లూరిగా చెర్రీ, కుమ్రం భీంగా తారక్ నటిస్తున్నారు. ఆలియా భట్, జైసీ ఎడ్గర్ జోన్స్ కథానాయికలు. వచ్చే ఏడాది జులై 30న ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు రాబోతుందీ చిత్రం.
'ఆర్ఆర్ఆర్' స్టోరీ లైన్ మెగాస్టార్ చిరంజీవి కథానాయకుడిగా సురేందర్ రెడ్డి దర్శకత్వంలో తెరకెక్కుతున్న చిత్రం సైరా. స్వాతంత్ర్య సమరయోధుడు ఉయ్యాలవాడ నరసింహారెడ్డి జీవితం ఆధారంగా ఈ సినిమా రూపొందిస్తున్నారు. రూ. 250 కోట్ల బడ్జెట్తో నిర్మిస్తున్నఈ చిత్రానికి నిర్మాత రామ్చరణ్. నయనతార కథానాయికగా, బిగ్ బీ అమితాబ్ కీలకపాత్రలో నటిస్తున్నారు. త్వరలో ఈ చిత్రం ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు రానుంది.

LEADIN:
A British-led marine science mission has completed the first phase of its ambitious expedition to explore and document changes taking place beneath the waves of the Indian Ocean.
It's been a challenging week for scientists and crew, part of the Nekton Indian Ocean Mission, but also one of great joy and fascination for researchers who are getting the very first glimpse of what lies below in the uncharted waters of the Seychelles.
STORYLINE:
About 400 kilometers (250 miles) south of Seychelles' capital Victoria, the tiny atoll of Alphonse emerges from the Indian Ocean, an idyllic island of palm trees, white sand, pristine waters and beautiful reefs.
Its isolation has made it an ideal resting place for migratory birds, but it's also home to a nursery of giant tortoises.
Onboard the Ocean Zephyr, it's what lies underwater that interests scientists on the British-led Nekton mission.
After a week of dives, just a few hundred meters off the coastline, researchers have gathered thousands of gigabytes of video data and numerous samples.
But as the vessel heads to its next dive site, the considerable task of preserving and packaging the samples cannot be delayed.
Time constraints and laboratory resources mean most of the analysis of the samples will only be conducted back on land, in different laboratories around the world, so it's essential the right samples are sent to the right labs.
For the scientists, the key to organization is protocol.
"This first period was a bit of training for all of the science team to just find out what works best and what the best way of getting everything together is," says Denise Swanborn, a marine scientist from the Netherlands.
From the surface, samples are gathered with a Neuston net, a small net that scrapes along the surface, taking in small jellies and zooplankton.
But there are also water samples from various depths, and specimens brought back to the surface by the team's two manned submersibles, such as these black corals.
A hundred meters under the surface, the subs have been exploring the side of an underwater mountain, despite strong currents, there's abundant life.
For most of the scientists onboard, this is the first time they have explored the ocean at these depths.
Marine scientist Rowana Walton has spent nine years studying marine sciences in the Seychelles, but had never been below scuba depth, about 30 meters under the surface.
"It went down and the first thing you realize is that it does feel like you're in a fish bowl. It feels completely reversed," she says.
"And as you descend down, you obviously tilt quite sharply, and then what surprised me most was the magnification.
"So, everything appears much smaller underwater, in the sub, than it does normally when you're diving or snorkeling."
On Walton's first descent, she was lucky to spot a very shy and secret Thresher shark.
"It was amazing because I did not expect to see anything like that under water," she says.
"I was so excited because to see Thresher sharks is really unusual, they're quite secretive, quite shy, and to see one in the sub at 100 meters, in the Seychelles - my home turf - was completely sensational."
During a different dive at the same site, it was a sunfish that amazed marine scientist Louise Allcock.
Water chemist, Prof. Jerome Harley was treated to a closeup encounter with a Hammerhead shark.
But the mission has also suffered setbacks. A key underwater drone was stranded on the sea bed for two days after its cable was cut.
It took three attempts by the manned subs to retrieve it - a testament to the difficult conditions operating in uncharted seas with powerful underwater currents.
For ROV pilot Jimmy Boesen, it was a week of sleepless nights, but the results are worth the stress.
"It's very, very difficult when the currents are running like they did in the last place we were. So, it's a lot of challenges, but the view is pretty good, so that's awesome," he says.
As the Ocean Zephyr moves to its next location, off the coast of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Aldabra, it's time for the Nekton team to regroup, take stock of what has worked and what has not, and begin to reflect on the meaning of what they saw in Alphonse.
"I'm not sure we knew what we were expecting," says Prof. Louise Allcock from the National University of Ireland, Galway, the deputy chief scientist onboard.
"But one of the outstanding features for me was the very large black corals at 250 meters. Black corals are very sensitive organisms, they're not able to retract their polyps and protect themselves, and so you tend to only find them in places with good clean water."
The ambitious years-long Nekton Indian Ocean Mission aims to explore the Indian Ocean and document changes taking place beneath its waves.
Researchers are currently spending seven weeks surveying underwater life, mapping the sea floor and dropping sensors to depths of up to 2,000 meters (6,560 feet) in the seas around the Seychelles.
