అతని వయస్సు 68 ఏళ్లు.. పదేళ్ల క్రితం ఓ ప్రభుత్వ ప్రాజెక్టులో ఇంటిని కోల్పోయి రోడ్డు మీద పడ్డాడు. కానీ అదే అతన్ని ఫేమస్ చేసింది.. ఆ ప్రాంతంలోని పురాతన కట్టడాల గురించి క్షుణ్ణంగా తెలిసిన అతను పర్యటకులకు గైడ్ గా మారాడు.. ఎంతలా ఫేమస్ అయ్యాడంటే పర్యటకులు తను చెప్పే విషయాలకంటే ఆ వ్యక్తి జీవితం గురించే ఎక్కువ తెలుసుకోవాలనుకునేంతగా.

తెల్లటి గడ్డం, నెరిసిన జుట్టుతో కనిపిస్తున్న ఇతని పేరు విక్నేస్లెవ్ రాన్సర్. వయస్సు 68 ఏళ్లు. రష్యా లోని సెయింట్ పీటర్బర్గ్ నగరానికి చెందిన ఇతను 10ఏళ్ల క్రితం నివాసాన్ని కోల్పోయి రోడ్డు మీద పడ్డాడు. అప్పటి నుంచి సెయింట్ వీధుల్లోనే జీవనం సాగిస్తున్నాడు. అయితే నగరంలోని నెవ్స్కీ ప్రాంతపు అందాలు, పురాతన కట్టడాలు, అనువణువూ రాన్సర్కి తెలుసు. అదే అతడ్ని టూరిస్ట్ గైడ్ని చేసింది.

రాన్సర్ రోజూ ఉదయం 9 గంటల నుంచి నుంచి మధ్యాహ్నం 3 వరకు నావెస్కీ ప్రోస్పెక్ట్ కట్టడాలను వీక్షించేందుకు వచ్చే పర్యటకుల కోసం స్థానిక సబ్వే స్టేషన్ వద్ద నిల్చుంటారు. కావలిసిన వారికి గైడ్గా ఉంటూ చాలా తక్కువ మందికి మాత్రమే తెలిసిన 15 పురాతనమైన కట్టడాల చరిత్రనంతటినీ వివరిస్తారు.

సెయింట్ నగర అందాలు అనువణువూ తెలిసిన రాన్సర్ చెప్పే విషయాలు జ్ఞానాన్ని కలిగిస్తాయి. కానీ వచ్చే పర్యటకులు అతని వ్యక్తిగత జీవితాన్ని తెలుసుకోవడానికి మరింత ఉత్సుకత చూపుతున్నారు.

STORYLINE:
Police are investigating why a black man being treated for double pneumonia at an Illinois hospital was arrested after a hospital security officer confronted him when he walked outside pushing an IV stand he was connected to.
Shaquille Dukes, 24, posted on Facebook that an "overzealous, racist, security officer" confronted him outside Freeport Health Network on June 9 while he still was wearing a gown issued from the hospital.
Dukes said doctors had suggested he go for a walk and a hospital security officer accused him of trying to steal the IV stand to sell it on eBay.
A video of the incident shows Dukes and two other men being arrested on disorderly conduct charges by police in Freeport, a city of about 25,000 with a black population of about 17%, 115 miles (185 kilometers) northwest of Chicago.
According to the police report, the security officer called police when the three men shouted at him and approached him in what he believed was a threatening manner.
A police spokesman said that when the security officer spotted Dukes and the other two men, they were no longer on hospital property.
The hospital said in a statement that patients are never supposed to leave the hospital while attached to an IV stand.
One of the officers who arrested Dukes wrote that the security officer was wrong in suspecting that the patient was trying to steal the equipment.
The other two men were charged with disorderly conduct as well as resisting a peace officer.
The police spokesman said the investigation was continuing but that Dukes had not attended two scheduled meetings to speak to an independent investigator.
Dukes could not be reached for comment and the hospital said that without patient authorisation it could not share information about the incident.
Freeport's city manager has asked a police chief from another community to conduct his own probe to determine if the officers on the scene acted properly.
