ఫోర్బ్స్ మేగజిన్ విడుదల చేసిన 'అమెరికాలో అత్యంత ధనిక మహిళల జాబితా'లో ముగ్గురు భారత సంతతి వనితలకు చోటు దక్కింది. స్వయం కృషితో కోటీశ్వరులైన 80 మంది మహిళా సంపన్నులతో జాబితా విడుదల చేసింది ఫోర్బ్స్.

అమెరికాలో అత్యంత ధనికులైన 80 మంది మహిళల జాబితాను విడుదల చేసింది ప్రఖ్యాత ఫోర్బ్స్ మేగజిన్. వీరిలో ముగ్గురు భారత సంతతి మహిళలు.

కంప్యూటర్ నెట్వర్కింగ్ దిగ్గజ సంస్థ 'అరిస్టా నెట్వర్క్స్' సీఈఓ జయశ్రీ ఉల్లాల్, ఐటీ కనసల్టింగ్ సంస్థ 'సింటెల్' సహ వ్యవస్థాపకులు నీర్జా సేఠి, స్ట్రీమింగ్ డేటా సంస్థ 'కాన్ప్లుయెంట్' సీటీఓ నేహా నర్ఖీద్ ఫోర్బ్స్ జాబితాలో చోటు దక్కించుకున్నారు.

'అమెరికాస్ రిచ్చెస్ట్ సెల్ఫ్ మేడ్ ఉమెన్-2019' జాబితాలో ఆ దేశానికే చెందిన వ్యాపారవేత్త డయానీ హెండ్రిక్స్ మొదటి స్థానంలో నిలిచారు. ఇంటి పైకప్పు, కిటికీలకు వస్తువులను సరఫరా చేసే పేరుగాంచిన ఏబీసీ సంస్థకు ఆమె యజమాని. 72 ఏళ్ల డయానీ ఆస్తుల విలువ 700 కోట్ల డాలర్లు.

జయశ్రీ ఉల్లాల్కు జాబితాలో 18వ స్థానం దక్కింది. లండన్లో పుట్టి భారత్లో పెరిగిన ఆమె ఆస్తుల విలువ 140 కోట్ల డాలర్లు.

2వేల డాలర్ల పెట్టుబడితో 1 బిలయన్ డాలర్లు

నీర్జా సేఠికి 23వ స్థానం దక్కింది. 2వేల డాలర్లతో 1980లో ఆమె భర్తతో కలిసి సింటెల్ సహవ్యవస్థాపకులుగా వ్యాపార రంగంలోకి అడుగుపెట్టారు. ప్రస్తుతం నీర్జా అస్తుల విలువ 100 కోట్ల డాలర్లు. 2018లో సింటెల్ సంస్థను ప్రెంచ్ ఐటీ కంపెనీ 3.4 బిలియన్ డాలర్లకు కొనుగోలు చేసింది. తన వాటాగా దాదాపు 510 మిలియన్ డాలర్లు అందుకున్నారు నీర్జా.

360 మిలియన్ డాలర్లు విలువ చేసే అస్తులతో నర్ఖీద్కు 60వ స్థానం దక్కింది.

జాబితాలో మొత్తం 80 మంది ఆస్తుల విలువ కలిపి 81.3 బిలియన్ డాలర్లు. కనీసం 225 మిలియన్ డాలర్లు విలువ చేసే ఆస్తులున్న వారే అర్హులు. జాబితాలో ఈ ఏడాది మొత్తం 25 మంది బిలయనీర్లున్నారు. గతేడాదితో పోల్చితే ఒకరు ఎక్కువ.

"Folks, you know, and we're going to fight to protect a woman's right to make her own personal decisions or who gets her health care. I've also served for many years and let me say this before you start to clap or boo, is that for many years as U.S. senator I have I've supported the Hyde Amendment like many many others have because there was sufficient moneys and circumstances where women were able to exercise that right, women of colour, poor women, women (who) are not able to have access. And it was it was not under attack as it was then as it is now. But circumstances have changed. I've been working through the final details of my health care plan like others in this race and I've been struggling with the problems that Hyde now presents. It's become clear to me that to get universal coverage and to provide for the full range of health services women need, which I plan to do with the continued expansion of Medicaid and the public option of a of a Medicare, of a Medicare plan, in that environment where providers like Planned Parenthood are under unrelenting attack, where we have a circumstance and this is I want to be clear why I'm taking the position I have, so I make no apologies in my last position and I make no apologies for what I'm about to say. The fact of the matter is that when in fact there is this enormous pressure and even threat to close down clinics that are available in the past for women who do not have the funds but are able to have them paid for privately, as we've been able to do, that was one thing. But we now see so many Republican governors denying health care to millions of the most poorest and most vulnerable Americans by refusing even Medicaid expansion. I can't justify leaving millions of women without access to the care they need and the ability to exercise their constitutionally protected right. If I believe health care is a right as I do, I can no longer support an amendment that makes that rate dependent on someone's zip code." (Applause)
STORYLINE:
After two days of intense criticism, US Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden reversed course Thursday and declared that he no longer supports a long-standing congressional ban on using federal health care money to pay for abortions.
"If I believe health care is a right, as I do, I can no longer support an amendment" that makes it harder for some women to access care, Biden said at a Democratic Party fundraiser in Atlanta.
The former vice president's reversal on the Hyde Amendment came after rivals and women's rights groups blasted him for affirming through campaign aides that he still supported the decades-old budget provision.
The dynamics had been certain to flare up again at Democrats' first primary debate in three weeks.
Speaking at a Democratic Party fundraiser in Atlanta, Biden didn't mention this week's attacks, saying his decision was about health care, not politics.
Yet the circumstances highlight the risks for a 76-year-old former vice president who's running as more of a centrist in a party where some sceptical activists openly question whether he can be the party standard-bearer in 2020.
And Biden's explanation tacitly repeated his critics' arguments that the Hyde Amendment is another abortion barrier that disproportionately affects poor women and women of colour.
"I've been struggling with the problems that Hyde now presents," Biden said, opening a speech dedicated mostly to voting rights and issues important to the black community.
"I want to be clear: I make no apologies for my last position. I make no apologies for what I'm about to say," he explained, arguing that "circumstances have changed" with Republican-run states - including Georgia, where Biden spoke - adopting new, severe restrictions on abortion.
A Roman Catholic who has wrestled publicly with abortion policy for decades, Biden said he voted as a senator to support the Hyde Amendment because he believed that women would still have access to abortion even without Medicaid insurance and other federal health care grants and that abortion opponents shouldn't be compelled to pay for the procedure.
It was part of what Biden has described as a "middle ground" on abortion.
Now, he says, there are too many barriers that threaten that constitutional right, leaving some women with no reasonable options as long as Republicans keep pushing for an outright repeal of the Supreme Court's 1973 decision that legalized abortion nationwide.
