"There's a lot of social commentary about the problems that a lot of people are experiencing nowadays. But those topics can be sensitive, so that's why we set the game in an alternate universe where elves and orcs roam around with humans. And that way we can tell, you know, like a lot of, for example, like of different races having a relationship where the families from both sides doesn't agree. In this game, we represent that with elves and demons, kind of similar like what we're experiencing in the world today, right?"

"Oh yeah, it's really disorientating and that's the fun of the game. The whole game is very crazy, the riddles and the puzzles are not so difficult. We want to make a fun game like you have your longest episode of Family Guy or Rick and Morty. We have a talking angry hamster, which lives in your garden and is a living battery and you don't really like it, as you go out of your house to the mail, to check out the mail, you activate a nuclear bomb. Oh my god, how did you do this? And now you activate the security system and everything of this crazy happening, we clear off in this whole game."

LEADIN:
Brewing coffee and warping gravity, gamers are getting their hands on the wackiest new indie titles at Gamescom in Germany.
The annual event's indie village is claimed to be the world's largest exhibition of such games with over 100 handpicked titles on show.
STORYLINE:
Forget shooting your enemy, how about serving them a cup of coffee and listening to their problems?
Indonesia-based video game studio Toge Productions clearly believes in the power of conversation and a warm drink.
It's showcasing upcoming video game "Coffee Talk" at Gamescom.
The aim is to listen to people's problems and help them by serving a warm drink from the ingredients you have.
It's set for release in early 2020 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
"I think drinking warm drinks can help warm the soul and you can also feel tell your secrets to random strangers easily," says Toge director Kris Antoni Hadiputra.
"I think she's gonna need our first coffee very soon and I'm gonna make it, like the good barista that I am," says one visitor.
But there's a serious side too. The anime-style game is set in an alternative 2020 Seattle, populated with elves, orcs and demons.
The integration problems many of the characters are experiencing can be compared with many modern-day race relations issues.
"There's a lot of social commentary about the problems that a lot of people are experiencing nowadays. But those topics can be sensitive, so that's why we set the game in an alternate universe where elves and orcs roam around with humans," explains Kris Antoni Hadiputra.
ByteRockers' Games is turning game-making on its head... literally.
The Berlin-based studio's upcoming video game "Gravity Lane 981" lets gamers control gravity, walking on walls and ceilings. It's inspired by a 2007 game, called "Portal".
"We want to try to create a game which has the mechanics of manipulating gravity as you want, but that also can be a little bit confusing yourself," says ByteRockers' Games senior project manager Maik Reichelt.
"So, we make some riddles, some puzzles in a very crazy house and the number of this house is Gravity Lane 981."
Reichelt says the game has a wacky storyline - the main character uses a gravity gun powered by living battery hamster. The aim is to deactivate a doomsday bomb before it goes off.
"We want to make a fun game like you have your longest episode of Family Guy or Rick and Morty," he says.
"We have a talking angry hamster, which lives in your garden and is a living battery and you don't really don't like it."
Gamescom, Europe's biggest video games event, runs till 24 August.
The event's Indie Arena Booth, claimed to be the world's largest indie exhibit, is playing host to over 100 handpicked titles from over 40 countries.
