"I think a lot of parents are worried about their kids, and them doing well in the world. I think this is an important conversation that's probably been a long time coming, and that's the good that's coming out of this is I think, us talking about it. Look, I never went to college. I'm not a giant fan. I'm not the kind of kid that would fit in, or ever get accepted at any college, so - so, it's never really been my thing."

15. SOUNDBITE (English) Joey King/Actress - on being familiar with the condition:
"Munchausen by proxy is not something that I was completely familiar with, or educated on, until this case came about. And it's really terrifying how many cases there are in the world that go unnoticed because one in ten cases are fatal for the victim involved."
Reporter: "When you see that poster, what do you think?"
Joey King: "Oh my God. I mean it it's crazy. I'm so excited. I never imagined that I would be able to co-star along someone like Patricia Arquette, and I'm just like I'm overjoyed. I'm really nervous right now. I don't know if you can tell."

17. SOUNDBITE (English) Patricia Arquette/Actress - on the disorder:
"I've always been fascinated by this syndrome, I guess, Munchausen by proxy because it just really flies in the face of nature. You know, every parent, I think, they would do anything to keep their child safe, protect their child. Keep their child from harm. And this woman is the opposite. So, it's a very fascinating phenomena to watch this kind of behavior cloaked in love."

19. SOUNDBITE (English) Chloe Sevigny/Actress - on being a part of a shocking, yet true story:
"It's special in the fact that we got like eight hours to really explore these dynamics, these relationships. The parallel mother daughter storyline between myself and my daughter, played by AnnaSophia Robb. And of course, Patty and Joey's characters. So, I guess we just have more time to really do a deep delve."

STORYLINE:
ON 'THE ACT' CARPET, PATRICIA ARQUETTE COMMENTS ON COLLEGE ADMISSIONS SCANDAL; OSCAR WINNER SAYS SHE NEVER CONSIDERED HERSELF COLLEGE MATERIAL
While Patricia Arquette never considered herself college material, she hopes the recent college admissions bribery scandal may finally star a meaningful conversation when it comes to financial privilege and inequities.
The Oscar-winning actress spoke briefly about it on the black carpet for her new Hulu series, "The Act," Thursday night (14 MARCH 2019) in New York.
More than 50 people were charged including actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin on Wednesday in what is being called the biggest cheating scandal to hit higher education.
"I think a lot of parents are worried about their kids, and them doing well in the world. I think this is an important conversation that's probably been a long time coming, and that's the good that's coming out of this is I think, us talking about it," Arquette said.
While she understands the length parents will go through to help their children get into the best schools, she has never considered herself the college type.
"Look, I never went to college. I'm not a giant fan. I'm not the kind of kid that would fit in, or ever get accepted at any college, so - so, it's never really been my thing," Arquette said.
Emmy-winning actress Margo Martindale was perplexed by the college admissions scandal.
"I find it all very sad. You know, I do a lot for my daughter, but I wouldn't cheat for her. And she said to me, 'and I wouldn't let you," Martindale said.
He co-star Callum Worthy was little more sympathetic.
"I'm not a parent but I could only imagine that as a parent you would do anything for your children, and I - even though what you may be doing may actually be hurting them, if you feel it's the right thing, I can understand where that comes from," Worthy said.
Joey King found the whole idea of parents cheating for their kids crazy.
"I don't even fully grasp what's going on there. But yes, that is crazy," King said.
"The Act" is a seasonal anthology that tells strange, but true crime stories. The first installment follows the case of a mother (played by Arquette) suffering from Munchausen by proxy syndrome, which means she fabricates diseases for her daughter, played by King. The daughter eventually rebels against her mother leading to a tragic end.
"The Act" premieres March 20 on Hulu.
