రూ.24.77 కోట్ల విలువైన ఛోక్సీ ఆస్తుల జప్తు

పంజాబ్ నేషనల్ బ్యాంకు కుంభకోణంలో నిందితుడు మెహుల్ ఛోక్సీకి చెందిన సుమారు రూ.24.77 కోట్ల విలువైన ఆస్తులను జప్తు చేసింది ఈడీ. భారత్తో పాటు దుబాయిలో ఉన్న ఆస్తులను స్వాధీనం చేసుకున్నట్లు పేర్కొంది.

పంజాబ్ నేషనల్ బ్యాంకు కుంభకోణంపై దర్యాప్తు వేగవంతం చేసిన ఎన్ఫోర్స్మెంట్ డైరెక్టరేట్(ఈడీ)... పరారీలో ఉన్న ఆర్థిక నేరగాడు మెహుల్ ఛోక్సీకి మరోమారు షాకిచ్చింది. భారత్తో పాటు విదేశాల్లోని సుమారు రూ.24.77 కోట్ల విలువైన చోక్సీ ఆస్తులను జప్తు చేసింది.

దుబాయిలో వ్యాపార సంబంధమైన మూడు ఆస్తులను స్వాధీనం చేసుకుంది. అందులో మెర్సిడీస్ బెంజ్ కారు, దేశ విదేశాల్లోని వివిధ బ్యాంకుల ఖాతాల్లో ఫిక్స్డ్ డిపాజిట్లు ఉన్నాయి. అక్రమ నగదు బదిలీ నివారణ చట్టం కింద చర్యలు చేపట్టినట్లు ఈడీ పేర్కొంది. ఈ కుంభకోణంలో ఛోక్సీ మొత్తం భాగం రూ.6,097.73 కోట్లుగా పేర్కొంది. ఇందులో ఇప్పటివరకు రూ.2,534.7 కోట్ల ఆస్తులను జప్తు చేసినట్లు తెలిపింది.

13 వేల కోట్ల పీఎన్బీ కుంభకోణంలో మెహుల్ ఛోక్సీ, నీరవ్ మోదీ, ఇతరులపై దర్యాప్తు చేపడుతోంది ఎన్ఫోర్స్మెంట్ డైరెక్టరేట్. 2018లో బ్యాంకు అధికారుల ఫిర్యాదుతో ఈ కుంభకోణం వెలుగులోకి వచ్చింది. ఈ కేసుపై సీబీఐతో పాటు ఈడీ ఎఫ్ఐఆర్ నమోదు చేశాయి.

STORYLINE:
The European Union's council president, Donald Tusk, on Thursday promised to assist Georgia's integration into European structures.
He was speaking at the Batumi International Conference, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the EU's Eastern Partnership initiative.
Earlier, Georgia's president called upon Europe to take a more active role in solving the issue of Georgia's territorial integrity.
Anti-Moscow sentiments run high in Georgia, which made a botched attempt to regain control over the breakaway province of South Ossetia during the presidency of Mikheil Saakashvili, sparking the 2008 war with Russia.
Moscow then recognised the independence of South Ossetia and another breakaway Georgian province of Abkhazia and set up military bases there.
Earlier this week, a Kremlin ban on direct flights between Russia and Georgia took effect, affecting thousands of travelers and dealing a serious blow to Georgia's tourism industry.
President Vladimir Putin introduced the ban following a wave of anti-Russian protests in the Georgian capital, sparked by a Russian lawmaker's appearance at the Georgian parliament.
